Leavitt & Block Honored At Intiman Theater's 2009 Gala 6/20

Intiman Theatre, under the leadership of Artistic Director Bartlett Sher and Managing Director Brian Colburn, announces that outgoing Board President Susan J. Leavitt and William H. Block, a former Intiman Trustee and Director of the Committee to End Homelessness in King County, will be honored for their outstanding contributions to Intiman at the 2009 Gala.

Kate Whoriskey Appointed As Artistic Director Of Intiman Theater Beginning In 2011

Intiman Theatre Board President Kim A. Anderson announces that Kate Whoriskey, one of the most admired directors in the American theatre today, will succeed Bartlett Sher as Artistic Director in 2011, following a season in which they will share artistic leadership. The multi-year transition process will begin this month, with Whoriskey and Sher working together on artistic programming and season planning for 2010.

Philadanco Dance Co Returns To The Joyce To Perform Audience Favorites 6/16-21

PHILADANCO, the Philadelphia Dance Company, will return to The Joyce Theater for a week-long engagement this summer from June 16 - 21 with a program that includes the NYC premiere of Philadelphia Experiment and a selection of audience favorites such as Enemy Behind the Gates. Steppenwolf Theatre Company launches its 2009-2010 season, exploring the theme of belief, with the world premiere of Fake, written and directed by ensemble member Eric Simonson. Fake features ensemble members Kate Arrington, Francis Guinan and Alan Wilder with Coburn Goss and Larry Yando.

New York Theatre Workshops Presents THINGS OF DRY HOURS 6/8-6/28

New York Theatre Workshop (NYTW) Artistic Director James C. Nicola and Managing Director William Russo have announced that Things of Dry Hours, written by Naomi Wallace and directed by Ruben Santiago-Hudson, will begin performances Friday, May 22, at NYTW, 79 East 4th Street, between Second Avenue and Bowery. Opening night is scheduled for Monday, June 8 at 7:00pm. The production will run through Sunday, June 28.

Corthron's 'A COOL DIP IN THE BARREN SAHARAN CRICK' Completes Playwrights Horizon's 2009/2010 Season

Playwrights Horizons, under the leadership of Artistic Director Tim Sanford and Managing Director Leslie Marcus, proudly announces the sixth and final production of its upcoming 2009/2010 Season, as well as additional casting. Presented at the theater company's home at 416 West 42nd Street, the new production will be: A COOL DIP IN THE BARREN SAHARAN CRICK - the World Premiere of a new play by Playwrights Horizons alumna Kia Corthron (Breath, Boom at Playwrights Horizons, Force Continuum), directed by Obie Award winner Chay Yew (Durango at The Public). Danspace Project Hosts 'Not About Romanian Cinema: POONARC' 6/4-13 At St. Marks

Danspace Project will present Yoshiko Chuma and The School of Hard Knocks/ROOT CULTURE in the debut of 'Not About Romanian Cinema: POONARC' from June 4 to 13, 2009 as part of its City/Dans series. This next installment in Chuma's ten year project, 'A Page Out of Order' (culminating in 2011), features artists of all disciplines from Japan, Romania and the USA. The word 'POONARC' in the title is an acronym for 'Page Out of Order Not About Romanian Cinema.'

SLIPPING Opens The Love Story Of 2 Iowa Boys Plays Rattlestick Playwrights 7/28

Hallie Foote To Star In Hartford Stage/Signature's THE ORPHANS' HOME CYCLE

2009 Tony Award nominee Hallie Foote (Dividing the Estate) will be featured in the cast of THE ORPHANS' HOME CYCLE, the nine-play three part theatrical event by her late father, the Pulitzer Prize and Academy Award winning playwright Horton Foote, which will be co-produced in the 2009-2010 season by Hartford Stage (Michael Wilson, Artistic Director; Michael Stotts, Managing Director) and Signature Theatre Company (James Houghton, Founding Artistic Director; Erika Mallin, Executive Director).

Kitty Lunn's Infinity Dance Performs At Joyce SoHo 5/28-31

Kitty Lunn will present her Infinity Dance Theater, a non-traditional company for dancers with and without disabilities, in new works by Peter Pucci, Heidi Latsky, Carla Vannucchi, and Ms. Lunn, along with an Infinity favorite by Robert Koval from the company's first season in 1995.
