Karen Carpenter, a producer, director and teacher, a theater-maker for more than 30 years, has been appointed the interim Artistic Director of the William Inge Center for the Arts and the 34th Annual William Inge Theatre Festival. The Inge Festival is the Official Theater Festival of the State of Kansas, hosted on the campus of Independence Community College, which houses the William Inge archives.

Music Theatre of Connecticut (MTC) will be celebrating the grand opening of The New MTC with a gala fundraiser on Saturday, September 27 at 7pm. The gala will take place at The New MTC, located at 509 Westport Avenue in Norwalk (behind Jones New York and Nine West Outlet). All proceeds will benefit MTC and its programming. On August 28, 2014, the Shapiro Sisters took the 54 BELOW stage for the fourth time and sang many tunes from the album and a few surprises as well, entertaining the audience with their brand of cuteness, charisma, and poised talent. Their debut release from Broadway Records was recorded across their first three appearances at the intimate venue and expertly captures their vibrant charm.

Dress Circle Publishing has announced the release of famed Sirius XM radio host Seth Rudetsky's first book in a new series titled Seth's Broadway Diary featuring "hi-lairous" stories from such Broadway greats as Patti LuPone, Chita Rivera, Raul Esparza, Jonathan Groff and more. 'Hello, Andrea!' That's what audiences will be saying with much enthusiasm when Broadway's legendary star Andrea McArdle returns to The Media Theatre as the iconic Dolly Levi in "Hello Dolly" in spring 2015. McArdle, who wowed audiences and theatre critics alike with her memorable performance as "Mame" in 2013, will take on her second Jerry Herman musical in Media April 15-May 17.

The on-site box office at the G&L Theatre, home to Naples equity theater group TheatreZone, will re-open starting today, September 3, from 10 am until 12 noon.

When I first heard about the opportunity to perform at the famed supper club 54 BELOW, I was thrilled! Both my sister and I have always wanted to do some kind of “sister act” together professionally (well, at least more professional than the shows we subjected our parents to in our living room growing up).

Hello, Broadway World! I'm Abigail Shapiro and I'm so excited to be a Broadway World blogger this month. I'm originally from Tampa, FL, but I moved to New York City with my mom and my sister, Milly, when I got the role of Cindy-Lou in Dr. Seuss' How the Grinch Stole Christmas and Milly got the role of Matilda in Matilda, The Musical after our very first Broadway auditions. Both my sister and I are so lucky and grateful to be able to pursue our dreams as performers. And here we are now--I'm actually blogging for BroadwayWorld.com. Wow! And in the same company as some of my Broadway idols, including Andrea McArdle, who I had the chance to perform on stage with recently…but more on that later. Not too long ago, I was a Broadway fanatic pouring through this very website, and so much has happened since then.
