Bradley King has won the 2017 Tony Award for Best Lighting Design of a Musical for NATASHA, PIERRE & THE GREAT COMET OF 1812.

The Lortel Awards will be presented tonight, May 7, 2017 at NYU Skirball Center beginning at 7:00 PM EST. This year's event will be hosted by actor and comedian, Taran Killam, and will once again serve as a benefit for The Actors Fund.

As described by Gavin Creel himself, this Hello, Dolly! is a 'musical theatre miracle.' Equally miraculous is his performance as Cornelius Hackl, which just earned him a Tony nomination for Featured Actor in a Musical. American Repertory Theater of WNY concludes the 2016-17 theatrical season with a presentation of playwright Martin McDonagh's A BEHANDING IN SPOKANE from May 4th to May 27th, Thursday through Saturday at 8pm at 330 Amherst St., Buffalo. This seedy dark-comedy of a seedy one-handed man's odyssey to find his missing hand in a seedy hotel room with two equally seedy visitors (then things really get weird...in a seedy way). Broadway writer Rick Elice (Jersey Boys, Peter and the Starcatcher, Addams Family) has written a new heartbreaking memoir about his late husband Roger Rees. Rees passed away in 2015 after losing a battle with brain cancer. Broadway dimmed the lights in his honor after his passing.

This year's star-studded Orchard Project Gala, A TASTE OF SOMETHING NEW, a star-studded celebration of the best of the new - from new food to new work - is set for May 1 at the Diamond Horseshoe in midtown Manhattan. The event, raising funds to expand Orchard Project's programming, will also honor acclaimed playwright, screenwriter, and Exchange Board Member Robert Schenkkan.

Massachusetts College of Art and Design (MassArt) will welcome Broadway director Diane Paulus as this year's commencement speaker.

IFC announced that two new original digital series, Frank & Lamar and Sport Court, will premiere today on the Comedy Crib (ifc.com/comedy-crib), the network's online hub for original, short-form comedy. Boston Playwrights' Theatre (BPT) presents the 19th annual Boston Theater Marathon and the ninth year of The Warm-Up Laps. This year's Boston Theater Marathon features 50 ten-minute plays, written by 53 New England playwrights, and produced by 50 New England theatres in ten hours.
