The Harris Theater for Music and Dance, in association with Lyric Unlimited, has announced the return of Beyond the Aria - the highly acclaimed performance series produced by the Harris Theater which pairs internationally celebrated opera singers of Lyric's mainstage alongside rising stars from The Patrick G. and Shirley W. Lyric Opera of Chicago will present international singing phenomenon Choir! Choir! Choir! at the Lyric Opera House (20 N. Wacker Drive, Chicago) today, October 21 at 8pm.

The Pearl Fishers is coming to the Lyric Opera of Chicago, November 19 - December 10.

New York City Opera will honor the 90th birthday of Pulitzer Prize-winning American composer Dominick Argento with a concert featuring two of his one-act operas on November 9, 2017 at Zankel Hall at Carnegie Hall. Soprano Heather Buck will perform Miss Havisham's Wedding Night and baritone Aaron Engebreth will sing A Water Bird Talk with Gil Rose conducting the New York City Opera Orchestra.

Lyric Opera of Chicago presents the harrowing story of a protective father, a lovestruck daughter, a predatory duke, and the terrible consequences of a curse in Verdi's Rigoletto. The new-to-Chicago production stars two world-renowned Ryan Opera Center alumni, Quinn Kelsey and Matthew Polenzani, in the opposing roles of the jester and the duke; and Italian soprano Rosa Feola (familiar to CSO audiences) in her Lyric debut as Gilda.

Lyric Opera of Chicago has announced that Thirteen Productions LLC for WNET New York has selected the world-renowned opera company's premiere production of the 1774 Paris version of Gluck's Orph e et Eurydice, created by the legendary choreographer John Neumeier and featuring The Joffrey Ballet, to be part of the prestigious Great Performances series on PBS.

New York City Opera opened New York's cultural season with a new production of Puccini's beloved La fanciulla del West, which WQXR called one of the resurrected City Opera's strongest productions yet. This October City Opera follows the success of La fanciulla del West with the world premiere of a new chamber adaptation of Tobias Picker's 2013 opera Dolores Claiborne, based on the novel by Stephen King. The adaptation has been prepared for City Opera by Picker, who is also City Opera's Composer-in-Residence.

Die Walk re focuses on the conflict between Wotan, king of the gods, and his mortal son, Siegmund, who has unwittingly fallen in love with his own twin, Sieglinde, the wife of the brutish Hunding. This arouses the wrath of Wotan's wife, Fricka (goddess of marriage), and the compassion of Wotan's daughter, the warrior-maiden Br nnhilde. The turning point of the opera arrives when Br nnhilde disobeys her father by siding with Siegmund in the latter's fight against Hunding. Both Siegmund and Hunding are killed, and Wotan punishes Br nnhilde.
