Leading Arts Administrator Michael M. Kaiser to Join UMD as Professor of the Practice
COLLEGE PARK, Md., Nov. 20, 2013 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ The DeVos Institute of Arts Management at the Kennedy Center, a premier organization for training and supporting arts leadership, is moving to the University of Maryland. Michael M. Kaiser, a foremost expert in arts management, together with the current director Brett Egan, will lead the DeVos Institute of Arts Management at the University of Maryland when the change becomes effective September 1, 2014.

Kimmel Center Education Department's new Show Stoppers after-school musical theater program is gearing up for its inaugural winter revue in Perelman Theater on December 13 at 7 p.m. The public is invited to experience this free community concert that celebrates the musical theater, dance and vocal talents of over 40 regional students, grades 9 to 12, who after a series of weekly after school instruction sessions with renowned teaching artists, will showcase their skills in a culminating performance. The evening program is an original work by teaching artist Jennifer Blaine in collaboration with the staff that showcases the many talents of the students as they express their concerns and solutions to the existing problems of budget crisis and the arts. The concert concludes Show Stoppers Fall session.

The Cape Dance Company will present GRACE at the Oude Libertas Amphitheatre in Stellenbosch from 20 to 23 November 2013. The dynamic season will be directed by Debbie Turner and will feature exquisite neo-classical ballets created by South African and International choreographers such as Bradley Shelver and Christopher L. Company XIV and The Saint At Large will present the New York Premiere of Nutcracker Rouge, conceived, directed and choreographed by Austin McCormick, with a script adapted and written by Jeff Takacs. Nutcracker Rouge runs Off-Broadway from November 29, 2013 to January 5, 2014 in a limited 6-week engagement at the Minetta Lane Theatre, located at 18 Minetta Lane between MacDougal Street and 6th Avenue in New York City. Previews begin November 29 for a December 4 opening.

There will be a memorial celebration for Paul Szilard (Dancer, Producer, Impresario and great friend to the arts) today, October 31st, 2013 at 1:30 pm at The Joyce Theater, 175 Eighth Avenue at 18th Street, NYC. There will be performances by the Martha Graham Dance Company, The Avlin Ailey American Dance Theater and Universal Ballet's Kirov Academy of Ballet; as well as reflections from some of his friends.
