Dianne Wiest to Lead Yale Rep's HAPPY DAYS at Theatre for a New Audience

Theatre for a New Audience will present the Yale Repertory Theatre production of Samuel Beckett's masterpiece Happy Days. Two-time Academy Award-winner Dianne Wiest (Hannah and Her Sisters, Bullets over Broadway) plays Winnie, widely considered modern drama's pinnacle female role, alongside Jarlath Conroy, who plays Willie, directed by Yale Repertory Theatre Artistic Director James Bundy.

2017 Nominees Announced for Shuler Hensley Awards

Today ArtsBridge announced the nominees for the 9th Annual Georgia High School Musical Theatre Awards - Shuler Hensley Awards - in a live streaming broadcast on GPB.org. 35 public and private schools from throughout the state were nominated in 17 categories. The awards show is the culmination of a year-long professional development program, and will showcase the next generation of Georgia's musical theatre talent. Presented by the Georgia Lottery, the awards show will air on Georgia Public Broadcasting (GPB) over its nine-station statewide television network live from Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre on April 20, 2017 from 7-9 pm.

TimeLine Theatre Company announces the final production of its 20th Anniversary 2016-17 season-the Midwest premiere of PARADISE BLUE by Dominique Morisseau, directed by TimeLine Company Member Ron OJ Parson and featuring original music composed by Orbert Davis, the co-founder, conductor and Artistic Director of Chicago Jazz Philharmonic, May 4 - July 23, 2017 (previews April 26 - May 3) at TimeLine Theatre, 615 W. Wellington Ave., Chicago. Press Night is Wednesday, May 3 at 7:30 p.m. 

Announcing the Winners of Synchronicity Theatre's New Arts Incubator Project, STRIPPED BARE

On January 30, 2017, Atlanta's Synchronicity Theatre launched a test-run of Stripped Bare, a new arts incubator project that gives artists a space to create and produce new work. Designed for early-career artists, Stripped Bare focuses on projects that emphasize words and ideas, with minimal technical elements. For this first year, the program was available by invitation only. Invitations were sent to Atlanta-based artists who had at least one paid professional credit, but had not originated or created more than five professional projects. They were asked to submit proposals. Two winning projects were selected:

Diversionary has announced casting for the World Premiere of BALLAST by Georgette Kelly. This highly poetic play explores the waking and dream lives of two trans and cisgender couples as they come to terms with the new lives they find themselves in.

Atlanta's nationally acclaimed Alliance Theatre presents present Cinderella and Fella, a contemporary musical spin on the Cinderella fairytale. Rosemary Newcott, the Sally G. Tomlinson Artistic Director of Theatre for Youth and Families, directs this family friendly one-act production. Cinderella and Fella will run twice a day on Saturdays and Sundays,  now through April, 2017. Opening night is tonight, March 21, and BroadwayWorld has a first look at the cast in action below!

Something Marvelous and Randy Steinmeyer, in association with Chicago Dramatists' Grafting Project, present the Johnny 10 Beers' Daughter. Written by Dana Lynn Formby and directed by Emmi Hilger, Johnny 10 Beers' Daughter runs May 19 - June 18 at Chicago Dramatists, 1105 W. Chicago Ave.

The Alliance presents THE MAGIC NEGRO AND OTHER BLACKITY BLACKNESS AS TOLD BY AN AFRICAN-AMERICAN MAN WHO ALSO HAPPENS TO BE BLACK

The Alliance Theatre is pleased to announce its upcoming sketch comedy show The Magic Negro and Other Blackity Blackness as told by an African-American man who also happens to be Black, by and starring Mark Kendall.  The Magic Negro is a hilarious one-man show that looks at representations of the African-American experience in the media.  It will run on the Hertz Stage from March 24 - April 15, 2017.  Opening night is Wednesday, March 29. 

Tonye Patano to Star in Dominique Morisseau's SKELETON CREW at The Old Globe; Cast Announced!

The Old Globe today announced the complete cast and creative team of Skeleton Crew by Dominique Morisseau. The Globe is the first regional theatre in the country to mount the play, which was presented here as a reading in the 2014 Powers New Voices Festival before an acclaimed Off Broadway run. San Diego director Delicia Turner Sonnenberg makes her Globe debut to helm the award-winning drama, which is presented in association with San Diego's MOXIE Theatre, where Turner Sonnenberg is Founding Artistic Director.
