'The Atheist' Begins at Barrow Street Theatre on October 7

Circle in the Square Theatre (Theodore Mann, Artistic Director and Paul Libin, Managing Director) has joined Culture Project as producer of the upcoming New York production of The Atheist, presented by Culture Project (Allan Buchman, Artistic Director). The dark comedy, written by Ronan Noone, directed by Justin Waldman and starring Campbell Scott as 'Augustine Early,' begins performances at Culture Project's temporary new home, Barrow Street Theatre, on Tuesday, October 7 with an official opening night set for Sunday, October 12.

Culture Project (Allan Buchman, Artistic Director) and Judson Memorial Church, in collaboration with Middle Collegiate Church, announced today that they will present a special one-night-only reading of Emmett, Down in My Heart, the never-before-seen play inspired by one of the most disgraceful events in America's history - the 1955 lynching of 14-year-old Emmett Till in the Mississippi Delta.

Culture Project (Allan Buchman, Artistic Director) has announced that it will host two special post-performance discussions, following the Saturday, January 26th and Friday, February 1st performances of its World Premiere production of George Packer's new play Betrayed. The first, following the 8:00 p.m. performance on January 26th, will include Packer and Iraqi interpreter (and the inspiration for the main character in Betrayed) Omer Salih Mahdi. Following the Friday, February 1st performance, Culture Project will welcome Pulitzer Prize winner (and My Trip to Al-Qaeda playwright) Lawrence Wright, who will join Packer in conversation about the war in Iraq.
