Lisa Dillon to Lead Coward's DESIGN FOR LIVING at Old Vic the Fall

Baz Bamigboye reports in the UK Daily Mail today that Lisa Dillon will lead a production of Noel Coward's Design for Living at the Old Vic in September. In this season launch production, she will be joined onstage by Tom Burke and Andrew Scott. Anthony Page will direct the production, which is being produced by Kate Pakenham.

Los Angeles' Reprise Theatre Company today announced it's 2010-2011 season, which features three classic American musicals at UCLA's Freud Playhouse: 'They're Playing Our Song' (September 28 to October 10, 2010), with music by Marvin Hamlisch, lyrics by Carole Bayer Sager and book by Neil Simon, and starring Jason Alexander, the company's Artistic Director; Alan Jay Lerner and Frederick Loewe's 'Gigi' (February 15 to 27, 2011); and Cole Porter's 'Kiss Me, Kate' (May 10 to 22, 2011), with book by Samuel and Bella Spewack.

Actor and writer Stephen Fry will host the first night of a special Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences' weekend salute to playwright, composer, director and actor Noel Coward that will include a live theatrical presentation of two of Coward's little seen short plays - Design for Rehearsing and Age Cannot Wither - followed by a screening of the 1932/33 Best Picture Oscar winner 'Cavalcade,' on Friday, April 16, at 7:30 p.m. at the Samuel Goldwyn Theater in Beverly Hills. The salute will continue through Saturday and Sunday with double-feature screenings at the Academy's Linwood Dunn Theater in Hollywood.

The new season opens with the Southwest premiere of the musical BACKWARDS IN HIGH HEELS, about the journey of Hollywood goddess Ginger Rogers; followed by Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award-winning playwright August Wilson's MA RAINEY'S BLACK BOTTOM, directed by Lou Bellamy and starring renowned recording artist Jevetta Steele as Ma Rainey. ATC's new season follows with the Arizona premiere of WOODY GUTHRIE'S AMERICAN SONG, directed by ATC favorite Randal Myler, followed by the world premiere of Jeffrey Hatcher's TEN CHIMNEYS set at the legendary summer estate of Alfred Lunt and Lynn Fontanne. Henry Miller Theatre's to Be Renamed as THE STEPHEN SONDHEIM THEATRE!

Longtime collaborators James Lapine and John Weidman announced the renaming of Henry Miller's Theatre to the Stephen Sondheim Theatre. The renaming of the theatre is dedicated to Stephen Sondheim, the greatest and best known artist in American musical theatre on his 80th birthday. The announcement was made at the curtain call following Roundabout Theatre Company's gala performance of the new Broadway musical Sondheim on Sondheim.
