Votes are cast; polls are closed; and results have been tabulated! This was our biggest year yet! After a record number of voters in more than 75 regions worldwide, BroadwayWorld is very excited to announce the 2016 Dallas winners! Thanks to all who voted, and huge congratulations to all the winners!

By all accounts, 2016 has been quite the rollercoaster ride. Fortunately for DFW audiences, the local theatre community and many of the touring productions delivered nothing short of a stellar year, setting quite a high bar for upcoming performances. As we say goodbye to another December, we'd like to look back on a handful of memories that stood out among the long list of Playbills we've gathered. And like raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens, these live theatre moments will be remembered as a few of our favorite things. We present this list in no particular order, and without awards or titles bestowed upon those listed. To everyone who contributed to the DFW theatre community in 2016, we thank you for sharing your time and talents with us.

Last week, some of the brightest talents on Broadway were featured in Broadway Sings Beyonce, the latest concert in the Broadway Sings concert series. BroadwayWorld has photos from the concert below!

The full lineup is set for the 13th installment of the acclaimed Broadway Sings concert series, Broadway Sings Beyonce, which will feature completely new arrangements of her record-breaking hits, accompanied by a 14-piece orchestra playing original orchestrations. Newly announced performers for the concert include Tony Nominee Charl Brown (Motown), Lilli Cooper (Spring Awakening), Lesli Margherita (Matilda The Musical), and Kyle Taylor Parker (Kinky Boots).

Grab your go-go boots and step back in time when the hair was bigger, the clothes were brighter, and the music was bewitching! The Flat Rock Playhouse presents the all women cast of Beehive: the 60s Musical. Continuing the fall season, the production will run from 13th October through 30th October at the Clive and Nina Allen Mainstage in the village rock of Flat Rock.

The BROADWAY SINGS concert series will present its 13th installment with Broadway Sings Beyonce at the Highline Ballroom on November 7th at 8pm. A cast of 15 Broadway stars from shows such as Hamilton, Spring Awakening, and Waitress will sing completely new arrangements of the pop queen's greatest hits (including selections from her recent Lemonade album), accompanied by a 14-piece orchestra playing original orchestrations. Previous artists honored in the series include Adele, Michael Jackson, Beyonce, Sara Bareilles, Billy Joel, and Whitney Houston.

Prior to my attendance at Dallas Theater Center's DREAMGIRLS this weekend, my familiarity with the show was based on the 2006 motion picture and the 2001 Actors Fund concert recording (not to mention the Tony Awards clip featuring Jennifer Holliday). Basically knowing only the film, I had often considered how smoothly the stage show could handle the onstage to backstage transitions, given the fast-paced musical score it followed. And, although the DTC production offers a slick, seamless interpretation of the piece, I'm afraid I left the theatre with the impression that the (gasp) movie adaptation was superior to the stage version. That being said, there are still many reasons to head to the Wyly to see this production.

Dallas Theater Center announced today complete details for the award-winning hit musical Dreamgirls. This modern-day classic is led by director and DTC Associate Artistic Director Joel Ferrell. Dreamgirls will begin with a Pay-What-You-Can performance on Friday, June 10 and will run through Sunday, July 24. Press Night will be Friday, June 17 at 8 p.m. Tickets to Dreamgirls are on sale now at www.DallasTheaterCenter.org and by phone at (214) 880-0202.

The 11th installment of the BROADWAY SINGS concert series, Broadway Sings Whitney Houston, in which a cast of 15 Broadway stars sang completely new arrangements of the legendary diva's greatest hits, accompanied by a 14-piece orchestra playing original orchestrations, was held April 10 at Highline Ballroom. The lineup is complete for Broadway Sings Billy Joel, the 10th installment of the star-studded BROADWAY SINGS concert series. A cast of 20 Broadway stars will sing completely new arrangements of the Piano Man's greatest hits. The performers will be accompanied by a jazz orchestra playing original orchestrations. Previous artists honored in the series include Adele, Michael Jackson, Beyonce, and Sara Bareilles.

Producers have announced that Mark Stuart Dance Theatre's critically acclaimed new dance musical, Standard Time, will extend its limited engagement at The Duke on 42nd Street (229 W 42nd Street) in NYC two additional weeks, now through Sunday, December 20, 2015. The new dance musical, which Dance Magazine called "Spectacular," features direction and choreography by award-winning choreographer Mark Stuart (Women on the Verge..., The Bandstand). The compilation of powerhouse female vocalists COVER GIRLS LIVE is set to kick off their Hollywood debut and residency this Thursday, March 19th with Special Guests Alex Newell (GLEE, The Glee Project) and JP Castillo (The Jacksons, Lifetime's BRING IT).

Cirque du Soleil will present a special engagement of the new show Banana Shpeel at San Francisco's Golden Gate Theatre with performances from Saturday, October 16 through Sunday, November 14, 2010.
