Bravo! Vail and the New York Philharmonic have announced a five-year extension of the Orchestra's annual summer residency through the summer of 2022. The Philharmonic has been performing at Bravo! Vail since 2003.

The New York Philharmonic will return to Bravo! Vail in Colorado, celebrating its 30th season, for the Orchestra's 15th annual summer residency, July 21-28, 2017. The residency will include six orchestral concerts that honor the Philharmonic's legacy on the occasion of its 175th anniversary season and the conclusion of Alan Gilbert's tenure as Music Director.

???????As the summer ends and the fall 2017 concert season comes into view, Kent Tritle will be found playing an organ recital at Himmerod Abbey, a Cistercian monastery in Grosslittgen, Germany. From there, it is off and running - the 2017-18 season for "New York's foremost choral conductor" (The New Yorker) is highlighted by the world premieres of two works with the Oratorio Society of New York, Sanctuary Road, an oratorio about the Underground Railroad by Paul Moravec, libretto by Mark Campbell, commissioned by the OSNY, and Behzad Ranjbaran's We Are One; concerts with the Cathedral Choir of St. John the Divine including a program celebrating the immigrant history of New York in collaboration with early/world music group Rose of the Compass that includes the world premiere of a commissioned work by Robert Sirota, and a program of Kodaly, Stravinsky, and Part's Miserere; programs of repertoire ranging from Gregorian chant to Morton Lauridsen with Musica Sacra; and Bach's St. John Passion with ensembles and soloists from the Manhattan School of Music.

Beginning in the 2017-18 season, the Metropolitan Opera's Lindemann Young Artists Development Program welcomes five new young artists into the acclaimed program established by Met Music Director Emeritus James Levine in 1980. Along with the returning nine participants, the program will train a new generation of artists, including opera singers, coaches, and pianists.

Ocean Grove's ever-popular 'Summer Stars Classical Series' kicks off on today, July 6, 2017 with the renowned IMPERIAL BRASS, the NJ-based, 28-piece brass ensemble founded in 1991 by Rutgers University alumni.

The New York Philharmonic has announced updates to its 2017-18 season.

92Y's 17-18 season opens on October 5 with internationally renowned cellist Mischa Maisky joining the “amazing precision” (Huffington Post) of the notably conductorless Orpheus Chamber Orchestra, which returns to 92Y for the first time in 15 years, to celebrate the cellist's 70th birthday season. Together, they open 92Y's illustrious concert season with Schubert's beloved “Arpeggione” Sonata, arranged for cello and string orchestra by Dobrinka Tabakova, as well as Arensky's Variations on a Theme by Tchaikovsky, and Tchaikovsky's Serenade for Strings.  Acclaimed for the sheer intensity and vigor of his performances, Maisky has the distinct honor of being the only cellist in the world to have studied under both Gregor Piatigorsky and Mlatislav Rostrapovich.  The Orpheus Chamber Orchestra is renowned as one of the foremost chamber orchestras in the world, with more than 70 albums in its sprawling discography since its founding in 1972.

Alan Gilbert will become the new Chief Conductor of the NDR Elbphilharmonie Orchestra. He will take on the position starting with the 2019-2020 season, succeeding Thomas Hengelbrock as head of the Elbphilharmonie Hamburg's orchestra-in-residence.

New York Youth Symphony (NYYS), composed of orchestra, chamber, jazz, conducting, and composition programs, heads into the 2017/18 season with a new strategic plan to strengthen the organization's position as the premier, independent music education organization for ensemble training in the New York metropolitan area.

Just after hearing the wonderfully well sung, semi-staged DAS RHEINGOLD at the NY Philharmonic, under departing Music Director Alan Gilbert, I saw the current Broadway revival of THE LITTLE FOXES. It seemed Richard Wagner's gods and Lillian Hellman's Hubbards had lots in common: The small-minded, self-serving gods of this production, at least, could have been friends and neighbors of the mendacious, corrupt Southerners in Hellman's play (or even of a would-be-royal family in Washington, DC).

Jason Tramm and the Morris Choral Society welcome acclaimed pianist Michael Fennelly who will perform Beethoven's exquisite 'Choral Fantasy, Op. 80' this Saturday May 20th at the Dorothy Young Concert Hall at Drew University. Mr. Fennelly will perform the famed concerto which Beethoven himself premiered in 1808 in in lieu of Italian pianist Cristiana Pegoraro, who is indisposed.

Conductor Joshua Gersen will lead the New York Youth Symphony (NYYS) orchestra for the last time as Music Director for its 54th season finale on Sunday, May 28th at Carnegie Hall.

 The Music Academy of the West launches its 70th anniversary season on June 12. To celebrate this major milestone anniversary, the Festival will launch three important new initiatives - the Commissions and Premieres program, the Enterprise Awards program for alumni, and the Steinway Competition and tour - besides presenting the inaugural Evolution/Revolution Conference and the largest classical music event in the history of Santa Barbara, California, for which Alan Gilbert will lead the New York Philharmonic in the final performance of his eight-year tenure with the orchestra. This year's four Mosher Guest Artists, Matthew Aucoin, David Daniels, Renee Fleming, and Stephen Hough, will take part in major Academy performances and share their expertise through masterclasses. Taking place from June 12 through August 5, 2017, the 70th Season Festival will comprise more than 200 masterclasses, recitals, performances, and events in Santa Barbara, many of which are free to the public. Festival events will feature the Summer School's 137 fellows, drawn from 22 states and eight countries, as well as nearly 70 faculty and guest artists.

The Hawaii Symphony Orchestra will travel to Pearl City and entertain audiences of all ages with concert that brings light, dance, and sweetness to the stage. This will be the Orchestra's first performance in Pearl City's jewel of a venue, the Pearl City Cultural Center at the very top of Waimano Road. 

The New York Philharmonic travels to Shanghai for its third annual performance residency as part of the Shanghai Orchestra Academy and Residency Partnership, July 2–8, 2017. The residency will feature four performances at Shanghai Symphony Hall, including a Young People's Concert in which select students from the Shanghai Orchestra Academy (SOA) will perform Dvo?ák's Symphony No. 9, From the New World, alongside the Orchestra; master classes, lessons, coachings, and a side-by-side Philharmonic rehearsal with SOA students of Dvo?ák's New World Symphony and Brahms's Symphony No. 3; and a Very Young Composers workshop and performance. The performances are presented as part of Shanghai's Music in the Summer Air (MISA) festival. The Philharmonic's Shanghai partnership is a cornerstone and founding component of the New York Philharmonic Global Academy. The New York premiere performances of acclaimed Icelandic composer Anna Thorvaldsdottir's Aeriality will be given by the New York Philharmonic led by Music Director Alan Gilbert on May 19 and 20 at 8pm, and May 23 at 7:30pm, at Lincoln Center's David Geffen Hall.
