Wexford Festival Opera Named 'Best Festival' at the International Opera Awards

Wexford Festival Opera won the highly coveted Best Festival category at the International Opera Awards, held in the prestigious surroundings of London's Coliseum at a gala event last night, hosted by BBC Radio 3 presenter Petroc Trelawny and attended by all of the world's leading opera professionals. 

Artists Rep to present the Final Stage Performance of RODNEY KING

Artists Repertory Theatre will present Rodney King, written and performed by acclaimed actor and performance artist Roger Guenveur Smith. This production at Artists Rep will be the final stage performances of Smith's piece that has been touring since 2012. Netflix will release the new film Rodney King, directed by Spike Lee, starring Smith, on April 28. Youth and community engagement programming surrounds the four public performances, and one free student performance, held for Rodney King, April 21 through April 23, 2017.

Right Angle Entertainment and A Rising Tide Theatrical Group have announced the all new national tour of GREATER TUNA. GREATER TUNA will play The Grand 1894 Opera House for a limited three-performance engagement on Saturday, April 8, 2017 at 3 and 8 pm; Sunday, April 9, 2017 at 3 pm.

These were selected by an international jury chaired by John Allison, editor of Opera magazine and classical music critic with The Daily Telegraph, 'Once again, it was both a challenge and a pleasure for us to produce these shortlists, and I am very grateful to our distinguished jury. The quality of the nominations-received in record numbers this year-was very high, and I hope our lists prove that for all the difficulties faced by the world's opera companies, opera is in fact in a healthy and vibrant state.'

Parma-based Artemis Danza, one of the most beloved dance companies in Italy, makes it United States debut with its highly acclaimed production of 'Traviata' at the Reva and David Logan Center for the Arts, 915 East 60th Street, for one performance tonight, Nov. 14 at 8 p.m. Under the leadership of Monica Casadei, the company's acclaimed adaptation of Giuseppe Verdi's 'La Traviata,' based on Alexandre Dumas play 'La Dame aux Camelias,' is presented as part of a celebration of the bicentenary of Giuseppe Verdi's birth and the year of Italian Culture in the United States.
