Landmark on Main Street's annual Spotlight Gala was held on Saturday, November 5, 2011 honoring Leslie and Andy Abramowitz, Fern and Hersh Cohen, and The Johnson Family: Stuart, Elizabeth Kase and Craig. In the 70's, Nigeria rose up and struck a new chord for justice with Afrobeat founder and political activist, Fela, as their controversial leader. The show, which opened last night at San Francisco's Curran Theatre, sways, plays and sings the political heart song of Nigeria through the life story of this musician turned activist, Fela Kuti. In its west coast premiere, the Tony-winning Broadway sensation packed a powerful opening night musical and political punch that was dynamic and experientially transformative. Everybody, please say "yeah yeah!"
International Green Theatre Alliance Launched

A new International Green Theatre Alliance (IGTA) has been launched at this year's LDI show in Orlando, Florida. The IGTA formalizes the growing partnership between Julie's Bicycle (UK), which works on environmental sustainability across the creative industries in the UK, and the Broadway Green Alliance (USA), which works with the US theatre community and its patrons to adopt environmentally preferable practices.

A native of Chicago, IL, Sebastian Maniscalco grew up with comedy in his blood. After earning a degree in Corporate Organizational Communications from Northern Illinois University, Sebastian realized his passion for stand-up comedy and moved out to Los Angeles. While working as a waiter at a Four Seasons in Beverly Hills, Sebastian spent every free night performing at local clubs, bowling alleys and bars.

Music Theatre of Connecticut MainStage, Fairfield County's Professional Theatre Company, is pleased to announce the 25th Anniversary MainStage Season. Between November 2011 and May 2012, MTC MainStage will present three fully-staged professional productions, each running for three weeks: 'Cabaret,' 'Almost, Maine' and 'I Left My Heart: A Salute to the Music of Tony Bennett.' Performances will take place in the one-of-a-kind Off-Broadway-style 50-seat studio, providing the audience with an intimate theatregoing experience. MTC MainStage is located at 246 Post Road East in Colonial Green (Lower Level) in Westport, CT.
