Music Theatre of Connecticut to Feature NEXT TO NORMAL, COLE PORTER PROJECT, and More in 2012-13

Music Theatre of Connecticut MainStage, Fairfield County's Award-Winning Professional Theatre Company, is pleased to announce the 2012/2013 MainStage Season. Between October 2012 and May 2013, MTCMainStage will present three fully-staged professional productions, each running for three weeks: 'Next to Normal,' 'Ancestral Voices' and 'The Cole Porter Project.'

Green Corn Festival Kicks Off in Hudson Valley Today, 9/1

Shakespeare Orange County will present William Shakespeare's MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING through September 1 at Garden Grove's Festival Amphitheatre ---outside and 'Under the Stars.' Set during the 1920s, this production features costumes and music of the era. The Festival Amphitheatre will allow audiences to enjoy watching the story of 'Beatrice and Benedick' unfold through the brilliant language and action of the play performed by professional actors from an open-air stage. Final Week at Lincoln Center Out of Doors Features Tributes to Gil Scott-Heron, Nick Ashford and More thru 8/12

It may be the final week of Lincoln Center Out of Doors, but the festival isn't winding down when it comes to exciting performances. This week, Lincoln Center celebrates the 40th Anniversary of the landmark Soul at the Center, highlighted by Valerie Simpson's first tribute to her late partner, Nick Ashford, since his passing. The pair that wrote such Motown hits as "Ain't No Mountain High Enough," "Reach Out and Touch (Somebody's Hand)," and "I'm Every Woman," made their performing debut as a duo at Lincoln Center 40 years ago. The Tribute takes place on Friday, August 10 at Damrosch Park.

Robert Egan to Direct OTHER DESERT CITIES at Center Theatre Group; Opens 12/9

Center Theatre Group has announced that Robert Egan is set to direct Jon Robin Baitz's immensely entertaining "Other Desert Cities" at the Mark Taper Forum. The play that received a 2012 Tony nomination for Best Play will be presented in its West Coast premiere at the Taper and will close out the Taper's 45th season at the Los Angeles Music Center.

Shakespeare Orange County opens its twenty first season with the presentation of RICHARD III. The production runs tonight, July 19-August 4 at Garden Grove's open air Festival Amphitheatre ---outside and 'Under the Stars.' Returning to the Festival this season are John Walcutt as Richard, Evelyn Carol Case as Queen Elizabeth, and Amanda Zarr as Lady Anne. Veteran company member Carl Reggiardo directs this production.
