Middlebury Actors Workshop Presents THE FOX, 3/18-3/21

Middlebury Actors Workshop, Addison County's only small professional theater ensemble and a resident company of the Town Hall Theater, will present Allan Miller's The Fox, based on the novella by D.H. Lawrence, March 18 - 21. The Fox kicks off MAW's celebratory 10th year bringing intelligent, finely crafted theater to Central Vermont.

Nicolas Kent to Helm A WALK IN THE WOODS at Northern Stage, 3/17-4/3

Nicolas Kent, the award-winning artistic director of London's acclaimed Tricycle Theatre, directs a new version of A Walk in the Woods, Lee Blessing's Pulitzer-nominated play about nuclear negotiations, at Northern Stage in White River Junction, VT. For the first time, with the playwright's input, the play will feature a woman portraying the American negotiator.

Two Local Teens Win Berkeley Rep's Annual Playwriting Contest

This year, teens are in a murderous mood at Berkeley Repertory Theatre. Today, the nonprofit's School of Theatre announced the winning scripts in its annual Teen One-Acts Festival - and both of them focus on comically preposterous crimes. The winning plays for 2010 are The Death of a Nut by 15-year-old Sierra Schoefer of Pleasanton and Off with his Head by 17-year-old Kelly Margaret Roderick of San Ramon. Both plays will be produced this spring by a team of 27 local teens.

Berkeley Rep Begins Enrollment for Spring & Summer Theatre School

Berkeley Repertory Theatre begins enrollment today for the spring session at its School of Theatre, as well as a summer intensive for teens. With two summer camps, 28 spring classes, and a Sunday Sampler on March 21, Berkeley Rep offers exciting activities for all ages and all abilities.

Aurora Theatre Company's Script Club to Examine ALL MY SONS, 4/26

Berkeley's acclaimed Aurora Theatre Company presents the third Aurora Script Club meeting of the season with Arthur Miller's All My Sons. Aurora Theatre Company Education Director Michael Mansfield hosts this moderated discussion series. The focus for this evening will be the idea of individualism, examining Aurora Theatre Company's production of Henrik Ibsen's family drama John Gabriel Borkman (1896) and its aristocratic version of the 'Industrial Dream' in light of Miller's family drama about the middle-class and the 'American Dream,' penned 50 years later.

Northern Stage Premieres DAMASCUS 2/17-3/7

Humor, pathos, romance and suspense fill the rarified Syrian air as Northern Stage presents the first-ever U.S. production of the award-winning Damascus by David Greig, from February 17 through March 7 at the Briggs Opera House in downtown White River Junction, VT, directed by Northern Stage Artistic Director Brooke Ciardelli, featuring Broadway Tony nominee John Herrera.

The Fountain Theatre's THE BALLAD OF EMMETT TILL Extends Thru April 25

The Fountain Theatre opens its 20th Anniversary Season with the West Coast premiere of Ifa Bayeza's daring, folk and gospel-infused The Ballad of Emmett Till in celebration of Black History Month. Shirley Jo Finney (Yellowman) directs Bernard K. Addison, Rico E. Anderson, Lorenz Arnell, Adenrele Ojo and Karen Malina White in the five-week run, February 20 through March 20, with low-priced previews beginning February 11.

Town Hall Theater Presents 'Trent Campbell: Behind the Scenes' 3/4-5/2

You can see his stuff every week - stunning photographs of Addison County that demonstrate an artist's eye and a mastery of the camera. Trent Campbell does more than shoot photos for the Addison County Independent, however. His body of work is large and varied, and has been featured in galleries and exhibits.

Photo Coverage: Signature Theatre Company's Gala

Signature Theatre Company (James Houghton, Founding Artistic Director; Erika Mallin, Executive Director) celebrated the construction of the theatre's future home, The Signature Center, at its 2010 annual gala on Monday, March 1 at Espace (635 West 42nd Street). Guest of honor was Frank Gehry, architect of the Signature Center. The evening alsod include the presentation of Signature's Playwrights' Award to actress Hallie Foote, daughter of the late playwright Horton Foote, who is currently starring at Signature in her father's critically acclaimed world premiere trilogy, The Orphans' Home Cycle.
