Jon Gailmore Headlines Aurora Theatre Anniversary Event, 3/27

Jon Gailmor, well-known Vermont singer-songwriter, will join Aurora School to celebrate its fifteenth anniversary at Middlebury's Town Hall Theater on Sunday, March 27. A lavish dessert buffet and great live music will highlight the Gala, which runs from 3:00-6:00 p.m. Gailmor will headline the event, performing his own family-friendly songs, as well as joining the Hinesburg-based a capella group In Accord. Rounding out the musical offerings will be the popular Vergennes band, Little City Jazz. The public is cordially invited. Tickets for the event are $15 adult, $5 kids K-8th grade, $35 family. A local restaurant raffle and silent auction of goods and services donated by local businesses, along with ticket sales, will benefit the Aurora Scholarship Fund.

THE RAINMAKER Opens At Northern Stage 3/16

As the region emerges from a long and difficult winter, Northern Stage taps into the eternal optimism of the American spirit with N. Richard Nash's acclaimed comedy-drama-romance The Rainmaker, on stage from March 16 through April 3 at the Briggs Opera House in White River Junction.

LaChiusa, Miranda, et al. Win 2011 Garland Awards

The 2011 Garland Award recipients were announced today, honoring the best of Los Angeles theatre. Under the voting system each Garland winner was named on at least three critics' 'Best of 2010' lists. Each critic listed up to five nominees for each category except performance, up to 10 nominees for performance in musical productions and 10 for straight plays. Here are the critics' lists, minus the winners. The critics who voted are Jeff Favre, Hoyt Hilsman, Travis Holder, Eric Marchese, Dany Margolies, Dink O'Neal, Melinda Schupmann, Madeleine Shaner, Les Spindle, Neal Weaver, and Jennie Webb.
