RED to Play Dallas Theater Center, Feb 7-March 24

Dallas Theater Center welcomes North Texans into the studio of artist Mark Rothko in the Texas premiere of Tony Award-winning Red, directed by DTC associate artistic director Joel Ferrell. This production turns the 9th floor of the Dee and Charles Wyly Theatre into Rothko's studio and gives audience members an intimate look at the brilliant and volatile artist as he undertakes a new commission. This show also marks the first production-specific collaboration between DTC and the Dallas Museum of Art, which will provide patrons and visitors the opportunity to learn about the world of Rothko by seeing the play at DTC, viewing original works of art by Rothko and his contemporaries at the DMA and engaging in special events about the work with both organizations. Red opens with preview performances on Thursday, February 7 and runs through Sunday, March 24 and is the first show ever to be performed on the 9th floor of the Wyly Theatre.

HOW THE WORLD BEGAN Opens in The Rep's Stiemke Studio Tonight

Religion and science collide in playwright Catherine Trieschmann's How the World Began, a visceral examination of the way in which we navigate interpersonal relationships involving seemingly irreconcilable beliefs - and just how hard it is to truly listen to one another in an increasingly polarized world. How the World Began runs in the Stiemke Studio from January 16 - February 24, and opens tonight, January 18.

Dallas Theater Center Presents KING LEAR, Now thru 2/18

Dallas Theater Center will conclude its four-year Shakespeare cycle with one of the playwright's greatest tragedies King Lear, a co-production with Trinity Repertory Company and directed by DTC artistic director Kevin Moriarty. King Lear opens for previews tonight, January 18 and runs through Sunday, February 18.

BOB Continues Aurora Theatre's 17th Season, Now thru 2/10

Aurora Theatre continues its 17th season with a new play that will have you laughing in the New Year. Bob, by American playwright Peter Sinn Nachtrieb, opens tonight, January 17 and continues through Feb 10, 2013.

Mirror Stage continues its popular Feed Your Mind staged reading series with the West Coast premiere of In the Book Of... by award-winning playwright John Walch at the Ethnic Cultural Theatre on February 9 and 10, 2013. Directed by Suzanne M. Cohen, Feed Your Mind: In the Book Of... features Trick Danneker (Bo Jr.), Duygu Erdo?an (Anisah), Tracy Michelle Hughes (Naomi), Jason Marr (Eddie), Michael Patten (Bo Sr.) and Amy Thone (Gail).

ALMOST, MAINE to Open at TheaterWorks, Jan 25

A delightful midwinter night's dream, ALMOST, MAINE by John Cariani will play TheaterWorks in downtown Hartford. The sweet and poignant comedy runs January 25 - March 3, 2013, directed by Amy Saltz.

Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park Appoints Three Associate Artists

Playhouse in the Park Artistic Director Blake Robison announced today the appointment of three associate artists for the theatre. Timothy Douglas, KJ Sanchez and Michael Evan Haney will work with Robison as the institution's primary artists for the next two seasons.

35 Writers Head to Goodspeed Musicals' First-Ever Musical Theatre Writers Colony, Beg. 1/21

A total of 35 established and emerging writers, composers and lyricists will converge on the Goodspeed campus this month to participate in the first-ever Johnny Mercer Writers Colony at Goodspeed Musicals. The writing teams, representing more than twenty new musicals, will populate the campus, creating a truly exciting environment for discovery and inspiration.

IAMA Theatre Company Presents SIXTY MILES TO SILVER LAKE, Opening 2/2

IAMA Theatre Company (Becca Wolff, Artistic Director) has announced a limited engagement of Sixty Miles to Silver Lake, written by Dan LeFranc and directed by Wolff, at Hollywood's Lounge Theatre. There will be one lower-priced preview performance on Friday, February 1 at 8pm, and opening night is set for Saturday, February 2 at 8:00. Sixty Miles from Silver Lake will play a limited engagement through March 10 only.

CO Natives Angela Reed and Mat Hostetler Among WAR HORSE Tour Cast at Buell Theatre, Now thru 1/20

Producers Bob Boyett and The National Theatre of Great Britain have announced full casting for the upcoming Denver engagement of the 2011 Tony Award-winning Best Play, War Horse. The company, comprised of more than 30 performers, includes Andrew Veenstra as Albert Narracott, Brian Keane as Arthur Narracott, Michael Wyatt Cox as Billy Narracott, Todd Cerveris as Ted Narracott, Colorado native Angela Reed as Rose Narracott, Jason Loughlin as Lieutenant James Nicholls, Jason Alan Carvell as Private Schnabel and Colorado native Mat Hostetler as Veterinary Officer Martin. War Horse plays the Buell Theatre tonight, January 8-20.

Antwayn Hopper, Okieriete Onaodowan and More Star in Old Globe's THE BROTHERS SIZE - Full Cast Announced!

The Old Globe today announced the complete cast and creative team for the Southern California premiere of The Brothers Size by award-winning playwright Tarell Alvin McCraney. Directed by Tea Alagi?, The Brothers Size will run Jan. 26 - Feb. 24, 2013 in the Sheryl and Harvey White Theatre, part of the Globe's Conrad Prebys Theatre Center. Preview performances run Jan. 26 - Jan. 30.
