When a group of friends discovers something unusual, they form a secret society to tackle the case and enlist the audience to help them. The creators of sold-out Fringe 2012 hit Seek and Hide bring a new interactive adventure through Smith Memorial Playground & Playhouse that invites audiences to use their imaginations alongside the actors. This show is best enjoyed by audience members ages 4 to 104.

Critically acclaimed theatre company The Playwrights Realm presents the New York premiere of Lauren Yee's new play The Hatmaker's Wife, directed by recent OBIE Award winner Rachel Chavkin (Natasha, Pierre, and the Great Comet of 1812). Called 'the greatest singer in the world' by Frank Sinatra, the always charming, classy and debonair Tony Bennett crooned his way into the heart of America. In this sexy musical revue, three superb male singers perform an anthology of Bennett's best work - from 'Rags to Riches' to 'Put On a Happy Face' to the title track and many more - celebrating more than six decades of remarkable music in this swingin' walk down memory lane. David Grapes and Todd Olson are co-creators for the production; Todd Olson will also be directing The Rep's production. Original piano and vocal arrangements for I Left My Heart are by Vince di Mura. The cast features singers Eric Jon Mahlum, Andrew McMath and Rob Tucker, all making their Rep debuts, and Richard Carsey, well-known to Milwaukee audiences from his years with Skylight Music Theatre, will accompany them on piano. Carsey is also the Music Director for the production. I Left My Heart: A Salute to the Music of Tony Bennett runs in the Stackner Cabaret from tonight, August 23 - October 20 and opens Sunday, August 25.

The third annual Communal Spaces: a garden play festival will present five original plays in Lower East Side community gardens, Sept. 13-29. The festival commissions new plays inspired by specific community gardens. Audience members may attend one play or several, traveling pub-crawl style to the next garden.
Acclaimed playwright and screenwriter Noah Haidle returns to Chicago with his newest work, Smokefall, which examines life's big questions through the prism of an ordinary family. Hailed by The New Yorker as "formidably talented, with a sort of freewheeling intuitive daring," the Michigan native playwright most recently wrote the 2012 film Stand Up Guys (starring Alan Arkin, Christopher Walken and Al Pacino) and previously authored Mr. Marmalade, Vigils (at the Goodman in 2006) and Persephone for the stage. Director Anne Kauffman, in her Goodman debut, assembles an ensemble cast for the Goodman production, including legendary Chicago actor Mike Nussbaum (Henry VIII at Chicago Shakespeare Theatre) as the Colonel; Catherine Combs (The Delling Shore at Actors Theatre of Louisville Humana Festival) in the roles of Beauty and Blessing; Katherine Keberlein (Boeing, Boeing at Drury Lane Oakbrook) as Violet; Guy Massey (Failure: A Love Story at Victory Gardens Theater) as Footnote and Fetus Two; and Eric Slater (Gloryana at New York City's Public Theater) as Daniel and Fetus One. A world-premiere co-production with South Coast Repertory, Smokefall runs October 5 - November 3 in the Owen Theatre (opening night is Monday, October 14). John Morogiello's newest play will get its first DC reading by a troupe that's been associated with the emerging playwright since 2006. Morogiello's plays have been produced at the Abingdon Theatre Company and Greenwich Street T?heatre (NYC), Old Globe Theatre (San Diego), Oldcastle Theatre Company (Vermont), Mountain Playhouse (Pennsylvania), the New Jersey Rep, Actors Theatre of Louisville, the Canadian Stage Company and the English Theatre of Vienna (Austria). Locally, his work has been seen at Rep Stage and at the Capital Fringe Festival, where the press referred to him as a "comic genius" in 2009.
