PlayPenn, Philadelphia's artist-driven organization dedicated to improving the way in which new plays are developed, has announced their Summer 2017 education offerings, including several opportunities to 'binge learn' during curated packages created especially for ambitious students.

Berkshire Theatre Group announces the final production of its upcoming 2017 Summer Season will be Mark Medoff's Tony, Outer Critics Circle and Drama Desk Award-winning play, Children of a Lesser God, which began performances on Thursday, June 22 at The Fitzpatrick Main Stage. Opening night is set for tonight, June 24 at 8pm.

National New Play Network, the country's alliance of nonprofit theaters that champions the development, production, and continued life of new plays, celebrates the launch of the Rolling World Premiere Halftime with Don by Ken Weitzman at New Jersey Repertory Company. The play will receive a total of three distinct NNPN RWP productions in a 12-month period, rolling through Core Members New Jersey Repertory Company (Long Branch; June 24-July 30, 2017), Phoenix Theatre (Indianapolis, IN; October 25-November 19, 2017), and B Street Theatre (Sacramento, CA; 2018). Halftime with Don was a finalist for the 2015 National Showcase of New Plays and is NNPN's 65th Rolling World Premiere.

Aurora Theatre Company closes its 25th season with the Bay Area Premiere of SPLENDOUR, Abi Morgan's (Suffragette, The Iron Lady, Shame, The Hour) riveting play about the fragility of power and the unreliability of language. Barbara Damashek (American Buffalo) returns to Aurora to helm this drama, featuring Lorri Holt (The Aspern Papers), Denmo Ibrahim (Betrayed), Mia Tagano, and Sam Jackson. Erik Ehn's Quiet House directed by Glory Kadigan premieres tonight, June 23, at the 2017 Planet Connections Theatre Festivity (The Festivity runs June 12 - July 9 at The Clemente, 107 Suffolk Street, NYC). The presentation will be tonight, June 23rd, at 7:00 p.m.

59E59 Theaters will welcome Throughline Artists with SUMMER SHORTS 2017, the annual festival of six short plays tailor-made for summer viewing, now celebrating its 11th season. SUMMER SHORTS 2017 begins on Friday, July 21 and runs through Saturday, September 2.

Premiere Stages will present the New Jersey Premiere of Dominique Morisseau's Obie Award-winning play Skeleton Crew at Kean University in Union July 13-30. In this compelling portrait of American workers struggling to hold on against the tide of technology, ambitions, secrets and conflicted loyalties threaten to destroy an automotive plant's status as a sanctuary in a rough city.

Victory Gardens Theater announces the lineup for the 2017 IGNITION Festival of New Plays, including Tuvalu, or The Saddest Song by Antoinette Nwandu; This Land Was Made by Tori Sampson; Spin Moves by Ken Weitzman; Tell Them I'm Still Young by Julia Doolittle; Wolf Play by Hansol Jung; and Suspension by Kristiana Rae Colon.

Continuing its commitment to developing new works, TheatreWorks Silicon Valley will gather playwrights and composers from across the nation for its 2017 New Works Festival at Palo Alto's Lucie Stern Theatre, where the public can attend performances, participate in a panel discussion with the artists, and share in the journey of developing new works for the American theatre. TheatreWorks Silicon Valley's Director of New Works Giovanna Sardelli has announced a stellar line-up which includes staged readings of two musicals, three plays, and other special events.

The YALE INSTITUTE FOR MUSIC THEATRE (Mark Brokaw, Artistic Director) announces the creative teams and casting for the two original book musicals, COWBOY BOB, created by Molly Beach Murphy, Jeanna Phillips, and Annie Tippe, book by Molly Beach Murphy, music and lyrics by Jeanna Phillips; and GUMBO, music by Brett Macias and book and lyrics by Christina Quintana, conceived by Brett Macias and Christina Quintana, which are being developed in an intensive two-week summer lab at Yale School of Drama, June 13-24. Scott Frankel is the Artistic Advisor, and Catherine Sheehy is the resident Dramaturg for this year's Institute, which culminates with open rehearsal readings of each project, presented as part of New Haven's International Festival of Arts & Ideas on June 23 and 24.

The Old Globe today announced the full cast for Guys and Dolls, a musical fable of Broadway.

Lookingglass Theatre Company concludes its 29th Season with its award-winning production of Moby Dick, adapted and directed by Ensemble Member David Catlin, from the book by Herman Melville, in association with The Actors Gymnasium. Moby Dick runs June 7 - September 3, 2017 at Lookingglass Theatre Company, located inside Chicago's historic Water Tower Water Works, 821 N. Michigan Ave. at Pearson. The Press Opening is Saturday, June 17, 2017 at 7:30 p.m.

Yonder Window Theatre Company and Parity Productions have announced that writer/performer Romy Nordlinger's Places is among the selected performances for this year's East to Edinburgh at 59E59 Theaters (Val Day, Artistic Director; Brian Beirne, Managing Director). Places will play 6 performances in July before traveling to Edinburgh, Scotland for the 2017 Fringe Festival where it will have 25 performances over the month of August (4th - 27th).

Algonquin Theater Productions, in association with What If Productions is proud to present The Bet, a new musical by Tony Sportiello and David Wolfson, as part of this year's Midtown International Theatre Festival. The two person musical is directed by Tom Herman, and features the talents of Dana Aber and Spencer Plachy. Performances are Wednesday, July 26th at 6pm, Friday, July 28th at 7:15pm and Saturday, July 29th at 4pm. The show is slated to run Off Broadway in the fall of 2017.

La Jolla Playhouse announces the cast and creative team for its world-premiere production of At the Old Place, by Rachel Bonds, directed by Playhouse Associate Artistic Director Jaime Castañeda, running in the Mandell Weiss Forum July 5 - 31.

Broadwayworld.com interviewed playwright Ken Weitzman about his career and the upcoming show at NJ Rep, 'Halftime with Don.' Directed by Kent Nicholson, the play will be on the Long Branch Stage from 6/22 to 7/30.
