Artistic Director of Sheffield Theatres Robert Hastie today announces his inaugural season. The new season opens with Hastie directing William Shakespeare's Julius Caesar bringing Shakespeare back to the Crucible; this will be followed in the Studio by the winner of the new annual RTST Director Award Scheme Kate Hewitt directing the regional premiere of Nina Raine's Tribes.

Aurora Theatre Company announces the company's newest Originate + Generate (O+G) artist commission, Christopher Chen. Chen has been commissioned for the company's 25th anniversary season to create a new play specifically for the Aurora stage; the working title for the new piece is Secretary of State. As with current O+G artists Jonathan Spector(The State of Nature) and Beth Wilmurt (Cabaret Olga), Chen will have the opportunity to create new work via a process of his own devising and will receive financial support in the form of a $5000 grant. During the O+G creation process, audiences will be invited to attend various workshops and presentations as well as a series of pop-up readings by other theater makers.

Sheffield Theatres today announces the appointment of Robert Hastie as the company's new Artistic Director. Hastie takes up the position in July 2016, taking over from Daniel Evans who steps down as Artistic Director at the end of June to join Chichester Festival Theatre. This appointment sees Hastie return to Sheffield Theatres, where he began his professional theatre career as an actor in Edward Bond's Lear in 2005.
