Broadway is buzzing today with news of a new stage adaptation of one of America's greatest novels.

The seven-production season includes the fabulously fun LEGALLY BLONDE THE MUSICAL, Aaron Sorkin's award-winning drama A FEW GOOD MEN, Stephen Adly Guirgis' dark comedy THE LAST DAYS OF JUDAS ISCARIOT, the magical family musical MARY POPPINS, the Kander and Ebb masterpiece CABARET, Neil Simon's Tony Award-winning farce RUMORS and the smash-hit musical comedy SISTER ACT!

Producer Scott Rudin has announced plans to bring Harper Lee's classic Pulitzer Prize-winning novel TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD to Broadway for the 2017-2018 season. Academy Award winner Aaron Sorkin will write a new stage adaptation of Lee's novel, and the production will be directed by Tony Award winner Bartlett Sher.

Syracuse University's Department of Drama tackles the volatile combination of adolescence and anxiety in Simon Stephens' 2009 play Punk Rock. Directed by Robert Moss, this production from one of Britain's most celebrated contemporary playwrights runs at the Storch Theatre February 19-28, 2016 in the Syracuse Stage/SU Drama Complex. Opening night performance is Saturday, February 20 at 8 p.m.

Happy holidays movie nerds! Nominations were announced for the 88th Annual Academy Awards this morning, and while I don't believe that there were any glaring, outrage-inducing snubs, I am going to go through the major categories and share some knee-jerk reactions. As is often the case for those of us that follow movie releases and award shows closely, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences didn't throw too many curveballs in this year's nominations, which means that there are a lot of people that have seen many of the nominees in the major categories. In fact, the Best Picture nominees have pulled in almost $602 million at the domestic box office, a pretty big number, considering half of them were released in the last two months and had to contend with the behemoth that is STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS.
