The long-running Tony Award-winning musical Avenue Q celebrates its 11th anniversary in New York tonight, July 31 at 8 p.m. with a special interactive social media performance - THE INTERNET IS FOR Q! - at New World Stages (340 W. 50 St.), at which all audience members will be invited to post their experiences during the show on their mobile phones via Twitter, Google+, Instagram, Facebook, etc. Members of the creative team and former cast members are expected to attend - and tweet - the performance, as well, and the evening's events will include surprise twists live from the stage.
The National Tour of THE GERSHWINS' PORGY AND BESS, winner of the 2012 Tony Award for Best Musical Revival, ends on a high note grossing $1,030,014 for the week closing July 20, 2014, making it the highest-grossing week on the tour. More than 15,000 people attended the show in Charlotte.

The Old Globe today announced the full cast and creative team for Shakespeare's The Two Gentlemen of Verona. Renowned director, Globe alumnus, and Tony Award nominee Mark Lamos (Compleat Female Stage Beauty, Pentecost, Resurrection Blues) returns to the Globe with one of Shakespeare's most delightful and boisterous comedies. The Oregon Shakespeare Festival will open the world premiere of Family Album, with book and lyrics by Stew, music by Stew and Heidi Rodewald, created with and directed by Joanna Settle. The opening performance is at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, July 5 in the Thomas Theatre; previews are July 1, 3 and 4. Family Album was commissioned by OSF with support from the Edgerton Foundation. The show runs through August 31.
