A Noise Within Presents THE PLAYBOY OF THE WESTERN WORLD, 4/17-5/22

A Noise Within (ANW) concludes its 2009-10 season with celebrated Irish playwright JOHN MILLINGTON SYNGE's THE PLAYBOY OF THE WESTERN WORLD directed by Co-Founder/Co-Artistic Director Geoff Elliott, which opens Saturday, April 17 and closes Saturday, May 22, 2010 (previews begin Saturday, April 10). The once controversial play - which sparked riots during and after its debut in Dublin in 1907, was booed in New York four years later, and resulted in the arrest of the Philadelphia cast on charges of staging an immoral performance - has since been recognized as a masterpiece.

ACT Presents THE TRIP TO BOUNTIFUL As Well As Dance, Theatre, Visual Art Events

Basic Monthly Members of ACT - A Contemporary Theatre have plenty to see in the month of May, featuring the debut of new works from KT Niehoff / Lingo Dance, New Century Theatre Company, SOIL Artist-Run Gallery, RAWSTOCK, and Hedgebrook's Women Playwrights Festival, as well as the 2010 Mainstage season opener, Horton Foote's enduring American classic The Trip to Bountiful.

Central Heating Lab & Lingo Present A Glimmer of Hope or Skin or Light 4/22-5/15

Serving as the final, culminating event of a three-month performance series launched late February, Lingo dance premieres A Glimmer of Hope or Skin or Light, a dance/theater/cabaret/glam rock musical commissioned and produced by The Central Heating Lab at ACT. Glimmer will be performed April 22-May 15, Thursday-Saturday at 8pm in ACT Theatre's Bullitt Cabaret.

A Noise Within Holds Pay-What-You-Can Performance of THE PLAYBOY..., 4/11

A Noise Within, the critically acclaimed classical repertory theatre company, will hold a 'Pay What You Can' date for its production of PLAYBOY OF THE WESTERN WORLD by JOHN MILLINGTON SYNGE on Sunday, April 11, 2010, at 7 pm. The Pay What You Can program allows patrons to purchase tickets for what they can afford.

Circle X Theatre Presents LASCIVIOUS SOMETHING, Runs Through 5/1

On a secluded Greek island, an American ex-pat pursues his passions: winemaking and his breathtaking young wife. Then, on the eve of his first tasting, an old lover reappears bringing with her a wild and violent past. Circle X Theatre Co. presents the Debut Production of Lascivious Something by Sheila Callaghan. Paul Willis directs Alana Dietze, Olivia Henry, Silas Weir Mitchell and Alina Phelan in a six-week run.

TPS Announces The Second Annual Gregory Awards, Ceremony Held 10/25

In late October, Theatre Puget Sound (TPS) will hold Washington's second annual regional theatre awards ceremony to recognize outstanding local artists, productions and companies from the 2009/2010 season. The nominees will appear on a ballot, to be voted on by the members of TPS.

International City Theatre Presents HOW THE OTHER HALF LOVES, 4/30-5/23

Three couples, two dinner parties, one adulterous affair. International City Theatre presents How the Other Half Loves, the delicious comedy by Alan Ayckbourn that ingeniously juggles time and space to create a whirlwind of chaos, confusion and laughter. Todd Nielsen directs a four-week run April 30 through May 23, with low-priced previews beginning April 27.

The Colony Theatre Company's CELADINE Ends Run 3/7

The Colony Theatre Company presents the fourth production of its 35th anniversary season, the West Coast Premiere of CELADINE, written by Charles Evered and directed by Andrew Barnicle. CELADINE will run from February 6 to March 7.

Central Heating Lab Set for Return of 'Pinter Fortnightly' Series

The Pinter Fortnightly series returns to ACT as a part of its Central Heating Lab line-up of events this season, beginning March 15, 2010 at 7:00 p.m. Started in 2009 as an early highlight of the Central Heating Lab at ACT, Pinter Fortnightly features a number of Seattle's best actors, all of whom donate their time and talent on Monday evenings-typically the actor's "day off"-to present readings of works by the late Nobel laureate playwright Harold Pinter.

Leading Local Theatres Collaborate During 2010-2011 Season

Exciting collaborations are underway as The 5th Avenue and ACT Theatre join resources to co-produce a regional premiere, and The 5th also teams up with Village Theatre, Broadway Across America and Seattle Theatre Group to bring a Broadway hit to Seattle and offer special ticketing prices to their subscribers in the upcoming 2010-2011 Season.
