BIO
Born in Odessa, Ukraine and raised in Toronto, Canada, Robert Gurvits undertook postgraduate studies at the Royal Academy of Music, London, graduating with Distinction in piano accompaniment, and was awarded a Foundation Fellowship. Robert continued his studies at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama gaining a Distinction in his Masters of Music as a repetiteur. This was followed by a trainee repetiteur position at English National Opera.
Robert has studied under many esteemed artists and performed at numerous festivals and masterclasses including Royaumont with Ruben Lifshitz; Young Songmakers Almanac with Graham Johnson; Britten-Pears, Aldeburgh with Martin Isepp; with Rudolf Jansen in Canada, the Netherlands and England; and Music Academy of the West, with Marylin Horne and Warren Jones.
In addition to working as an accompanist, coach and repetiteur in various operas and song programs in Europe, North and South America, Robert has performed in recital throughout Europe and North America with many of the leading singers and instrumentalists of his generation including winners of competitions such as Bayreuth, Monserrat Caballet, Verviers, Queen Elisabeth, Marmande, and BBC Young Musician of the Year.
