Lower Manhattan's Shakespeare Downtown will present a new adaptation of Alexandre Dumas fils' 'The Lady of the Camellias.' Adapted by Billie Andersson, 'The Lady of the Camellias' combines dialogue from Dumas' novel (considerably different from Dumas's stage play) with text and structural concepts from the libretto of the opera 'La Traviata.'

This timely play is based on historical records of the 1431 trial of French military icon and religious martyr Joan of Arc. The production is directed by Geoffrey Horne.

Lower Manhattan's Shakespeare Downtown presents eight free performances of George Bernard Shaw's masterpiece, 'Saint Joan,' from June 16-26, 2022 inside the historic walls of Castle Clinton National Monument at The Battery. The Lee Strasberg Theatre & Film Institute® (Anna Strasberg, Artistic Director) will host its 50th Anniversary Celebration, “THE NEXT 50 YEARS,” on Monday, November 4, 2019 in the Rosenthal Pavilion overlooking Washington Square Park at New York University (60 Washington Square South). The celebration is a gala benefit for The Lee Strasberg Creative Center®, which has provided scholarships to students for 42 years. The evening will be hosted by Honorary Co-Chairs Alec Baldwin and Marlo Thomas, with Mr. Baldwin making a special award presentation to renowned teacher Geoffrey Horne. The program will also feature appearances by Ellen Burstyn, and Renée Taylor.

Running July 25-August 5, delicacy of a puffin heart traces the stories of two pairs of immigrant/first generation women living in the same San Francisco apartment, twenty years apart: in the 1990s, a lesbian couple hoping to have a child, and in the present, their adult daughter living with her best friend. Both pairs of women struggle to maintain their intimate connection while facing mental and physical illness. Performed by Dominique Brillon, Diane Chen, Cleo Gray, Drita Kabashi, and O'mer Koren, delicacy of a puffin heart is the fourth production in the second annual season of Corkscrew Theater Festival, a new summer theater festival that provides early-career artists with a high level of production support.
