Stephanie Lynn Wilson BIO

Watching the late great actor Anna Magnani as a child I was inspired. The raw passion she exuded in her performance let me know that there was a way to emotionally loose without getting arrested or be lead off in a strait jacket. After seeing the original production of "A Chorus Line" and being mesmerized by "What I Did for Love" decided to finally take the plunge and studied Acting at NYU School of the Arts Theatre Program. Years later I became an "accidental playwright" writing my first full length play while a resident playwright at the old RAPP Arts. I also became of member of the Sidewalks Theatre Company acting in the Greek classics, which I adore. I LOVE drama! I like to act it, and write it... It is my release! I have now written 5 full length plays which I have also produced, and directed as well as acted in 2. My mission is that of a cultural activist, to use the arts for change and to create complex characters for women, and other underrepresented groups. My first full length play, a supernatural mystery thriller which I adapted to screenplay, is in the production stage and I also direct. Although I never had a "budget" for any of my productions the sacrifice of making it happen with "guerrilla tactics" is more than worth it. For I have ALWAYS did it for LOVE!

I simultaneously directed, and produced the three full length plays of my trilogy "Women You Thought You Knew" as well as acted in one of the plays in March 2017 at IATI Theatre. Was I crazy? One of the plays in the trilogy, the Swing Era drama "Silk Stockings and a Bible" is set to return as an immersive production on July 16, 2018 at Harlem's fabulous Ginny's Supper Club. Hopefully, it will be a regular offering to Jazz clubs around NYC for folks who love the music, and history of the era.
