BIO
Samantha LaCroix was born in Vienna, Austria, where she grew up playing happily at her concert pianist’s mother’s feet, as she would practice for one of her engagements. With moms loving help, encouragement and inspiration, she began playing in many competitions from age 13 on after the family moved to Toronto, Canada, and was crowned Young Artist of the Year of Ontario at age 16.
She went on to get her Bachelor's and Master’s Degrees in Piano Performance from TCU- Texas Christian University in Fort Worth TX, -where she studied with the late great Brazilian pianist Jose Feghali, who won the prestigious International Van Cliburn Piano Competition in 1985.
In addition, Samantha had always loved singing- she actually majored in voice and minored in theater at the Cawthra Park HS for the Performing Arts in Canada, and so she continued on into operatic studies, first with Metropolitan Opera bass Raymond Bazemoore, and then as one of Lili Chookasian of Yale University's only private students upon moving to CT after graduation.
She opened her own private piano and voice studio there and also taught part time at private schools such as Choate Rosemary Hall. In addition, she sang in many recitals, as well as with the CT Virtuosi Orchestra and the Lake George Opera Company. She also toured the NE playing, singing and acting with the Magic Lantern Theater Company intermittently for over two years.
In 2006 she moved to Port Saint Lucie Florida with her husband and two children and reconnected with her other love,-dance- ,which she had studied for many years as well, and choreographed shows for St Edwards School in Vero beach.
She then taught Elementary Vocal Music for three years at Bayshore Elementary for which she was awarded Outstanding First Year Teacher in St. Lucie County.
Her current artistic home is St Lucie West Centennial HS, where she is the Theater Specialist for grades 9-12. There she created the advanced acting program which has won several critics’ choice awards and superiors both in individual and one act competitions, and has three alumni that were accepted into the prestigious American Academy of Dramatic Arts in NYC.
Samantha is also on the board of FATE, the Florida Association of Theater Educators, has done extra and commercial work and is a featured actress in the independent film "The Awakening". She also performs with local theater companies and churches when time permits and offers private coaching.
