30 Competitors Announced For Sixteenth Van Cliburn International Piano Competition


The Cliburn announced today the 30 competitors selected to participate in the Sixteenth Van Cliburn International Piano Competition, taking place June 2-18, 2022, at Van Cliburn Concert Hall at TCU and Bass Performance Hall in Fort Worth, Texas, USA.

72 Pianists Chosen For Screening Auditions Of 2022 Van Cliburn International Piano Competition


The Cliburn announces today the 72 exceptional pianists representing 22 countries selected to come to Fort Worth next month to participate in the live Screening Auditions (March 6-12, 2022) of the sixteenth edition of the Van Cliburn International Piano Competition (June 2-18, 2022). The Auditions are open to the public and are free to attend.

2018 Winners Of The New York International Piano Competition Announced At Awards Ceremony Held On Friday Night


The 2018 winners of the New York International Piano Competition (TheNYIPC), under the auspices of the Stecher & Horowitz Foundation, were announced at an Awards Ceremony at Manhattan School of Music on Friday evening (June 22). Prizes and awards totaling $50,000 were presented.  Robert Sherman served as Master of Ceremonies.  The week-long event began on June 18.

The New York International Piano Competition Returns to Manhattan School Of Music


The New York International Piano Competition (TheNYIPC), under the auspices of the Stecher & Horowitz Foundtion, returns to Manhattan School of Music for its Ninth Year, June 18 - 22. This biennial event is open to pianists of all nationalities between the ages of 16 to 22. This year, 22 pianists will be competing. No pianist is eliminated throughout the competition's four rounds, a first in the world of competitions.

Academy Celebrates 10 Years with Concert & Zukerman Master Class


The Music Institute of Chicago celebrates the 10th anniversary of its Academy program, which has educated and prepared gifted pre-college musicians for professional training and music careers, with several public events in 2016. On Saturday, February 6, renowned violinist/violist/conductor Pinchas Zukerman gives a master class for Academy students, free and open to the public, and Chicago Symphony Orchestra (CSO) Principal Clarinetist Stephen Williamson performs chamber music with Academy students. Both events take place at Nichols Concert Hall, 1490 Chicago Avenue, Evanston.

International Bronze Medalist Kate Liu to Perform at Nichols Concert Hall in January


After capturing the Bronze Medal at the prestigious Fryderyk Chopin International Piano Competition in Warsaw, Kate Liu, an alumna of the Music Institute of Chicago, makes her first Chicago concert appearance on Saturday, January 16 at 7:30 p.m. at Nichols Concert Hall, 1490 Chicago Avenue in downtown Evanston. The concert, which the Music Institute is presenting in partnership with the Steinway Piano Galleries of Chicago, benefits the Emilio del Rosario Scholarship Fund for Young Pianists.

The Music Institute of Chicago, one of the nation's leading community schools, and its Academy Program, a top training center for advanced pre-conservatory students, dominated the prestigious 2015 Thomas & Evon Cooper International Competition for Violin. After a rigorous audition process, the competition chose nine of the 21 international competitors from the Music Institute-an unprecedented number from one institution-with two placing at the top of the competition, which was presented by the Oberlin Conservatory of Music and the Cleveland Orchestra in late July in Oberlin, Ohio.
