BIO

Gerardo Vallejo is a Texas native, growing up in the charming city of San Antonio. He Now resides in New York City. He is a classically trained actor, singer. He most recently headlined his own concert "A Gentleman In New York" at the NYC renowned Cabaret Venue 54 Below. He recently played the role of Dauntless in The Gallery Players production of One Upon a Mattress, as well as the concert reading of #Lovestory: The Musical at The Green Room 42. He has been seen onstage singing at Carnegie Hall, with The New York Pops Orchestra, with Matthew Morrison & Kelli O'Hara for the winter concert: "Kelli & Michael: Home For The Holidays" Conducted by Steven Reineke. His most recent New York City works include: 15X15 (Musical Theatre Factory), The concert performance of Wall to Wall: Stephen Schwartz (Symphony Space) A New Brain (Roger), You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown (Schroeder), Peter & the Pied Piper (Peter) at The Gallery Players, Grease (Roger), Ennui An English Comedy With A French Title For an American Audience performed at The Theater for the New City, a staging and concert of a new musical in the Off-Broadway theatre at The Theatre at St. Clements, The comedy Nothing Serious in the heart of Manhattan at The Producers Club, as well as various cabarets at venues such as The Duplex, and don't tell mamma. He was a featured soloist in the New York Pops Opening 2015 Season concert "Songs of Rodgers & Hammerstein" at Carnegie Hall. He began his love for theatre at an early age, being involved with drama and choir all through out his education. From an early age, Gerardo was cast in commercials and short films. His passion for the arts grew, and became regularly involved with acting/ singing programs and classes. He has worked with many theatre companies being involved in all aspects of production, from technical, acting, directing, to producing. His favorite stage credits include: You're A Good Man, Charlie Brown (Title Role), The Secret Garden (Dickon), Guys & Dolls, In The Heights, A Funny Thing Happened on the way to the Forum, Les Miserables, & A Midsummer Nights Dream. He was nominated for Best Supporting Actor in a Musical through The Alamo Theatre Arts Council Awards in 2013 and 2014. Gerardo is currently in rehearsal for several projects, including New York Concerts, and his one man show A Gentleman In New York, to be staged in December of 2018. He is a proud activist being involved with many Non-Profit organizations in New York City, including: The Anti-Defamation League of New York, The Gay Mens Health Crisis, Impulse NYC, and Arts for All.

Musical Theatre Factory Announces RECLAIMING OUR TIME, Celebrating MTF's People Of Color Roundtable

To celebrate the work of MTF's People of Color Roundtable on Monday May 20th, Musical Theatre Factory will present a one night only evening of new musical theatre works by and for people of color. These electrifying, witty, powerful, complex and poignant songs explore a range of stories told by the ones who are meant to tell it- songs about matters pertaining to race and just plain ol' humanity! Curated by Natasha Sinha and Ianne Fields Stewart. Reclaiming Our Time will take place at Joe's Pub (425 Lafayette St) on Monday, May 20 at 7pm. Tickets are $25 and are available at mtf.nyc/events.

A NEW BRAIN At Gallery Players Opens January 27th

Gallery Players will begin 2018 with William Finn and James Lapine's A New Brain. It is an autobiographical musical exploring illness and the healing power of art. A New Brain features music and lyrics by William Finn; book by William Finn and James Lapine. The show started as a concert at The Public Theater in 1996, then premiered Off-Broadway at Lincoln Center in 1998, directed by Graciela Daniele and featuring Malcolm Gets. In 2015 City Center presented A New Brain in their Encores! series with the cast headed by Jonathan Groff.

On October 9, The New York Pops, led by Music Director Steven Reineke, opened its 33rd season at Carnegie Hall's Stern Auditorium/Perelman Stage with My Favorite Things: The Songs of Rodgers and Hammerstein. When it comes to the Golden Age of Broadway, there are few shows that are as accessible and wildly entertaining as Guys and Dolls. Since it's debut in 1950, the musical has graced Broadway six times, and there are now reports of a film remake. If the film is half as entertaining as the current production at The Playhouse, audiences will be pleased. The Playhouse's Guys in Dolls is vibrant, joyous, and entertaining from beginning to end.

One of the key characters of In the Heights, now playing at the Woodlawn Theatre, often exclaims "Alabanza!" at moments of extreme joy. Alabanza, we are told, translates to "Praise to this." It's also the most fitting response I can give to this glorious production. There is much to praise in Woodlawn Theatre's remarkable production of this hit, Tony Award winning musical.
