STAGE TUBE: First Look at Tom Hewitt, Brenda Braxton, Lindsay Roginski and More in Highlights of CHICAGO at Music Circus

Its first time ever at Music Circus, the sizzling, sexy Kander and Ebb smash hit Chicago is the final show of the 2013 Music Circus season, with an extended run at the Wells Fargo Pavilion from August 20 - 29. The 1996 revival of this hit musical, one of the cornerstones of the choreographic Broadway legacy of Bob Fosse, won 6 Tony Awards and is still running on Broadway. With a plot centered on murderesses Roxie Hart and Velma Kelly, on death row together fighting for the fame that may keep them from the gallows, the show features a number of popular songs including 'All That Jazz,' 'Razzle Dazzle' and 'Cell Block Tango.' BroadwayWorld has a first look at highlights of the production below!

BWW Reviews: CHICAGO and All That Jazz at Music Circus

Closing the summer season with its first production of the Kander and Ebb classic, 'Chicago,' Music Circus gives Sacramento the 'old razzle dazzle them' this week at the Wells Fargo Pavilion. The production features Fosse's well-known jazz hands, which influenced so much of musical theatre, and it glitters under Randy Slovacek's choreography and David Neville's dramatic lighting. A flexible cast shows off its muscles with amazing flips and twists of the body, while the story unfolds in vaudeville-style, complete with sensual black costumes designed by Mark Koss.

BWW Reviews: The Muny's Excellent Production of DREAMGIRLS

If you only went to the Muny this week to see a very svelte Jennifer Holliday sing "And I'm Am Telling You I'm Not Going", in the role that virtually made her career, you would already have enough reasons to attend The Muny's production of DREAMGIRLS. But, the fact is, there are so many more things to like about this show, that your attendance is practically mandatory. A superb cast and sharp direction heighten the pleasure of watching this finely rendered presentation.

BWW Reviews: Over the Top Production of ROCK OF AGES at the Fox Theatre

A certain generation (namely, my own) is going to really get a kick out of ROCK OF AGES. Those younger than me will still be amused by its wildly over the top antics, but those that are older may be a bit befuddled by the constant barrage of cultural references from the late 1980's, and probably have no familiarity at all with most of the music that's from that era. I think ROCK OF AGES is a gloriously hilarious and completely ridiculous homage to the big hair, hard rock anthem bands that ruled MTV and the radio at that time. This was cruising music when I was in my late teens and early twenties, so I instantly identified with the attitudes presented, and the music that accompanies each melodramatic moment.

On Monday, March 29, singer/vocal coach/dancer/model/internet sensation Miranda Sings brought her dazzling act to the Broadway at Birdland stage once again. Armed with special guests Ann Hampton Callaway, John Tartaglia, Sam Tsui, Jarrod Spector and Domenic Nolfi, the show was packed with beautiful singing, performance critiques, the reading of hate mail, and love gone astray. Ms. Sings will be making a return to Birdland on Sunday, April 25 at 6pm.
