Brandon Wayne Reed

Brandon is a Sound Designer and audio enthusiast, presently pursuing an MFA in Sound Design & Technology at University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Born and raised in Indianapolis, Indiana, he attended Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana where he earned his Bachelor's of Science in Theatre Design & Technology. With a vast range of experience designing plays, musicals, Shakespeare, devised, radio, performance art, and film he brings to the table a vast understanding of storytelling in various art forms.

Before graduate school, he was previously based in Chicago, where he had the pleasure of working with fantastic companies from The Hypocrites, Congo Square, Teatro Vista, About Face, 2nd Story, the side project, Bluebird Arts, Silk Road Rising, and many more. In 2016, he was nominated for a Joesph Jefferson Award for his work on A Small Oak Tree Runs Red with Congo Square Theatre. He was fortunate to serve as an apprentice sound engineer and assistant designer for Steppenwolf Theatre Company's 2014-2015 season. In 2015, he received a fellowship with Chautauqua Theater Company in New York, where he worked on two new play workshops and as an assistant designer for their main stage season.

Brandon's designs are set apart by his artistic ability to manipulate atmosphere and sound effects as story telling devices. He is inspired by works that are bold and creative, taking chances that present audiences with something they haven't seen, heard, or thought of before. Art that tests the boundaries of technical limits and your realm of imagination.
