Alex E. Taylor
BIO
Alex E. Taylor has been in the theater for as long as he can remember. A Vermont native, he has over thirty design credits in the Vermont and New Hampshire area. Alex has been lucky to have been mentored by numerous designers, producers, and actors in the theater including Travis McHale (lighting designer), Carol Dunne (artistic director), Eric Love (director), John Lammert (lighting designer), and Jodi Picoult (director, author and producer).
Alex has worked as a resident designer for Jodi Picoult’s Trumbull Hall Troupe in Lebanon, NH, a guest artist at Dartmouth College in Hanover, NH, and a designer for numerous shows at Northern Stage in White River Junction, VT.
Recent credits include School of Rock (Northern Stage), The Secret Garden (NCCT), A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum (NCCT), The Circle Mirror Transformation (Dartmouth College), The Musical Adventures of Flat Stanley (Northern Stage), When in Rome (Trumbull Hall Troupe), Fish Tale (Trumbull Hall Troupe), The Wizard of Oz (Hanover High School), Cymbeline (Hanover High School), Dear Edwina (Northern Stage), Love and Information (Northern Stage).
Alex has worked as a spotlight operator, electrics over-hire / intern, and assistant for over twenty productions at The New London Barn and Playhouse, Northern Stage, and Lebanon Opera House.
In addition to working as a freelance lighting designer Alex studies biochemistry and marine biogeochemistry. His work in science has taken him to Savannah, Georgia and out to the Gulf Stream off the coast of South Carolina. Alex is currently investigating the effects of reactive oxygen on the growth of phytoplankton.
