Theatre UCF's spring production is the aptly-titled Spring Awakening. The musical is playing on UCF's Main Stage from March 21-30, 2013.

Spring Awakening was written as a collaboration between American singer-songwriter Duncan Sheik and writer Steven Sater. The story is based on the 1891 play of the same name by Frank Wedekind and revolves around late twentieth century German teens who are discovering their sexuality.

The play was controversial when it was written and the musical maintains the tale's edge today. With songs like "My Junk," "Touch Me," and "Totally F---ed," the musical was not written for the easily-offended.

Central characters Moritz, Wendla, and Melchior are childhood friends who have been raised by harsh and distant adults who have kept the teens in the dark about sexuality.
