Camera Ready is a new musical by Gary LeGault, Camera Ready follows the life of documentary filmmaker Nelson Sullivan, from his Southern roots to his final days capturing New York’s underground art scene of the 1980s. Told through music and movement, the show explores Sullivan’s obsession with discovering new talent in the nightclubs of Lower Manhattan—spotlighting figures like RuPaul, Jackie Curtis, and Sylvia Miles. Inspired by Sullivan’s relationship with Andy Warhol and set against the backdrop of the AIDS crisis, Camera Ready is a vibrant tribute to a lost era of queer creativity.
