T-O-T-A-L-L-Y! Returns to New York City

By:

Kimleigh Smith proudly announces together with director Paula Killen the return of her one-woman show, T-O-T-A-L-L-Y! playing The Red Room (85 East 4th Street, 3rd Floor, between 2nd and 3rd Avenues) in New York City for a limited-run - playing February 25-March 7. Performances play: February 25 - 6:30pm, February 27 - 2:00pm, March 3 - 9:30pm, March 5 - 11:00pm, March 6 - 5:00pm, and March 7 -6:30pm, as part of the acclaimed Frigid New York Festival.

The autobiographical show takes the audience through a journey that is uplifting, heartbreaking and powerful as they witness the story of Smith, first as a young cheerleader, and then transforming into a powerful woman embracing her inner superhero, reclaiming her sexuality and living as a whole, healthy individual who cheers for life! "You must be willing to sacrifice who you are for what you want to become. That's what "T-O-T-A-L-L-Y!" is all about," says writer and star Kimleigh Smith. The show runs 1 hour (with no intermission).

The Paula Killen-directed show previously played NYC's Teatro La Tea and the 2009 One Festival, plus a sold-out run in Los Angeles. Ms. Smith's stage credits include Chicago's Goodman Theatre, Lookingglass Theatre and Steppenwolf Theatre's productions of "A Clockwork Orange," "Crumbs from the Table of Joy," and "Puddn'head Wilson." "Puddn'head Wilson," went onto play Los Angeles' Falcon Theatre, winning an LA Weekly Theatre Award. In addition, audiences will know Smith from Garry Marshall's hit film "The Princess Diaries."

"Kimleigh's one- woman show is a testimony to the healing power of theater for both the performer and the audience. Her courage, honesty, raw talent and energy exhibited in her performance were inspiring. I recommend this piece to anyone who wants to see a riveting show and catch a star on the rise. Kimleigh is an artist and this show will wake you up and take you on a ride that you won't forget," says actor BilLy Wirth.

FRIGID New York made its debut in February 2007. American Theatre Magazine, Backstage, Playbill, NYtheatre.com, Broadwayworld.com, The Village Voice, and United Stages acclaimed the festival and the work of 29 theater companies featuring almost 250 theater artists from all over the world. The artists flooded downtown Manhattan for two weeks to ecstatic audience members. Nytheatre.com gave full coverage and praise, calling FRIGID "A pleasant surprise," American Theatre Magazine said "This event promises to steam up the independent theatre scene," Backstage.com called it "The first festival of its kind to celebrate independent theater," Playbill, and Broadwayworld called it "a celebration of independent theater tailored to support the artist," and United Stages exclaimed "The coolest show on earth!." NYtheatre.com subsequently named them one of their PEOPLE OF THE YEAR in 2007 and in subsequent years featured many returning artists, a rise in attendance, sold out performances - and even more daring, and original work.
