TAKE ME OUT Plays Tisch Drama Stageworks
Ben Curtis stars in the upcoming production of "Take Me Out" by Richard Greenberg and directed by Robert OHara at Tisch Drama Stageworks 2010 - 2011
"I have come ....to understand that baseball is a perfect metaphor for hope in a Democratic society," says Mason Marzac in Richard Greenberg's 2002 play Take Me Out. The play tests that hypothesis, posing questions about homophobia and race in the context of major league baseball. Originally produced at the Public in a sold-out run before moving to Broadway, where it won the 2003 Tony for Best Play, the work was dubbed by Ben Brantley "an unconditional all-American epiphany." Ben Curtis, while a veteran of the stage, is best known for his television work as the lovable "Dell Dude." After his Off-Broadway romp in "JOY" & most recently, "Oscar Hubbard" in the critically acclaimed Peccadillo Theater Company's extended run of Lillian Hellman's timeless masterpiece, "Another Part of the Forest," Mr. Curtis is returning to the stage to play the controversial role of "Shane Mungitt," originated by Frederick Weller. Curtis just finished production playing opposite Richard Chamberlain in the feature film, "We Are The Hartmans."
