RedLeaf Theatre Stages RAISE ME UP, Begin. Tonight
RedLeaf Theatre Co. will present Charlie Biscotto's Raise Me Up from today, September 4th through September 20th at Under St. Marks, located at 94 St. Marks Pl. in downtown Manhattan. Performances are Thursday, Friday, and Saturday evening at 8 p.m. with Saturday matinees at 3 p.m.
In the aftermath of the zombie-apocalypse, Reverend John Marigold (played by Aaron Matteson) attempts to repair his marriage and lead his small congregation as they fight for survival. John and his wife, Meredith (Heidi Hackney), have taken up shelter inside his New Life Church along with parishioners and other local survivors. Jess (Caroline Mahoney) and Clyde (Sam Durant Hunter) have taken on the roles of guardians of the community, venturing outside the church's fortified walls for protection and supplies. Outside, they discover a transformed Kelly (Sarah Young), a former parishioner who has left the safety of the church along with her sister, Claire (Julia Rose Dahm). Raise Me Up explores faith, fidelity, and morality under catastrophic circumstances.
Raise Me Up is written and directed by Charlie Biscotto. Sound design and original scoring are by Taylor J. Williams. The show is stage managed by Kimberlyn C. Alava.
Raise Me Up is the inaugural production of RedLeaf Theatre Co., co-founded by Artistic Director Charlie Biscotto and Taylor J. Williams to develop new work that provokes conversation about controversial topics.
A preview performance for members of the press will be held on Wednesday, September 3rd.
