Right NOW! with Carolyn Castiglia is a female-driven live talk show that blends the gab fest elements of daytime TV with traditional late-night comedy, topped off with the dark sparkly bite of neo-vaudeville acts from burlesque and cabaret. A night hosted by Carolyn feels like a teenage sleepover at your best friend's house: it's both comforting and full of new discoveries, and chock full of belly laughs.
Every episode of Right NOW! features Carolyn's Opening Rapologue, a freestyle rap created from suggestions made by the audience, followed by a panel on an issue from a wide range of timely topics, such as slut-shaming, the future, the Black Lives Matter movement, rape culture and more. This episode will concentrate on the election, with Daily Show producer Jena Friedman (star of her own SeeSo stand-up special, American C*nt, to be released this fall), Keith and the Girl regular Myka Fox and comedian and activist Elsa Waithe.
During the second half of the show you'll see an interview with Karen Fratti, a writer who recently disclosed her HIV positive status to the public in hopes of removing any remaining stigma about living with the disease, and witness the stream-of-consciousness genius that is the comedy of Janeane Garofalo. Closing out the night is musical guest It Was Romance, with Lane Moore. Their recent video release, Hooking Up With Girls, was featured in Nylon and on Out.com.
House band Rebecca Vigil and The Righteous NOW! entertain the audience with their incredible musical improv throughout in an environment that is best described as beautifully controlled chaos.
