Project Rushmore Theatre Co Presents Email: 9/12, Donates All Proceeds
This September marks the tenth anniversary of the terrorist attack on the Twin Towers in New York City. E-mail: 9/12 is being performed by the Project Rushmore Theatre Company in New York on 9/12/11 as well as theatre companies in New Jersey and Philadelphia. It is playwright Midge Guerrera's hope that the productions of her play will act as a catalyst for a community dialogue. Project Rushmore will be donating all proceeds to the 9/11 Memorial Fund & Museum.
E-mail: 9/12 takes place on September 12, 2001 - the day after the 9/11 tragedy. Ms. Guerrera sent emails out to those she cared about and "was surprised that so many folks were on line and responded almost instantly." "I saved the e-mails," said Guerrera. "Those initial e-mails became the premise for the play."
E-mail: 9/12 provides a picture that probes into the hearts of the people that were there, had someone there and those of us who will always be able to tell you where we were when the first plane hit the North Tower at 8:46 AM.
There will be a post performance discussion.
There was a feeling of solidarity and community following the events of 9/11. We hope this evening will aide in continuing those feelings.
