New York Theatre Barn is dedicated to the investigation, development and advancement of new works. In just three years NYTB has become a member of the National Alliance for Musical Theatre, introduced a monthly springboard event for emerging writers and performers (NYTB in the D-Lounge, NYTB at the Duplex), presented concerts and staged readings (including the musical Big Fat Cat with Bruce Vilanch and I Married Wyatt Earp with Tovah Feldshuh, directed by Tony-nominee Graciela Daniele) and produced fully realized productions (including Wood at NYMF with Cady Huffman, and the delightful parody Hey, You Know What Movie Would Make a Good Musical? which lovingly transforms the films Jerry Maguire, Twister, Home Alone and Scream into musicals). NYTB won its first award for the one-woman play Child of Hungry Times (Planet Connections Theatre Festival) and has also been a launching ground for challenging new work including Adam Gwon's Ordinary Days (which had a recent production at the Roundabout Theatre Company), RRRED (which was presented in the 2009 New York Musical Theatre Festival) and Bobby Cronin's The Beaten Path (formerly B.R.A.T.T. Camp, with readings directed by Christopher Gattelli, recent production in Chicago at The Music Theatre Company).
