NIGHTS AT THE PIANO To Premiere At The Duplex Cabaret Theatre October 18th

By:

A premiere concert of the brand new song cycle NIGHTS AT THE PIANO by Svetlana Orel is coming to the Duplex Cabaret Theatre on October 18th. The four characters of the show sing about love, identity and coming-of-age troubles of the young performers living in New York City.

NIGHTS AT THE PIANO is written and directed by actress and songwriter Svetlana Orel. Originally from Moscow, Russia, Svetlana has been writing songs since age twelve. Writing at the piano and on guitar, she has written in many styles, including pop, rock, country, and folk. Enrolling in the American Musical and Dramatic Academy in New York to pursue Musical Theatre Acting in 2016, it was only natural that she would dip her toes in writing for the stage. Now, graduated and working on various plays around the city, Svetlana is ready to put her music on stage.

The cast is comprised fully of AMDA NY Integrated Program graduates.
Kyra Meyers, a Virginia native, who has performed with Evening Crane productions and AlphaNYC.
Danika St Denis, originally from Canada, studied acting at York University prior to attending AMDA. She has performed in NYC with The Other Side of Silence Theater Co., Living Room Theater, AlphaNYC, and is a permanent member of Our Time Players Theater Co. She just closed a play at the Hudson Guild Theater as a part of NY Summerfest.
Tuni Hernandez, originally from Tempe, Arizona, was featured in many community and professional productions while studying acting at Arizona State University. Besides musical theatre, he also dedicates time to film acting, art, and recording music.

Established in 1950, the legendary Duplex Cabaret Theatre is the cornerstone club in Greenwich Village, the cradle of New York City cabaret. Originally under the direction of Tony Award winning actor Hal Holbrook, the club has built its reputation as a dynamic platform for new and emerging talent, performers seeking to launch their career and hone their craft. Luminaries such as Woody Allen, Joan Rivers, and Barbra Streisand are among the incredible talent who graced their stage early on in their careers. Continuing this time-honored tradition, they attract and work with the best and brightest up-and-coming composers, singers, and comedians, as well as established Broadway professionals and award-winning recording artists.
