Jordan Temple's THE COLOR URKEL To Play The Tank, 2/22-2/24

The Tank (Meghan Finn and Rosalind Grush, Artistic Directors) will present Jordan Temple's mash-up comedy The Color Urkel, for a limited engagement February 22-24 at The Tank (312 West 36th Street between 8th and 9th Avenues). Performances will be Thursday, February 22 at 9:30pm, Friday, February 23 at 10:30pm, and Saturday, February 24 at 10pm Tickets ($7) are available for advance purchase at www.thetanknyc.org.

From the creator of the viral play, Hidden Fences, comedian Jordan Temple (writer on "SMILF", and "The Rundown with Robin Thede" respectively) is expanding his mash-up comedy play universe into his next mash-up, The Color Urkel. In The Color Urkel Steve Urkel and his smooth alter ego, Stefon Urquelle are separated through space and time. They communicate with each other through pre-recorded letters about what life is like for black people in each time period and give each other tips on how to survive, all while making efforts to reunite. The Color Urkel is an epic, absurd black history month comedy play you don't want to miss!

Jordan Temple is a New York City born, New York City based stand up comedian and writer. In 2017 he was a writer for the upcoming Showtime comedy "Smilf", and is currently writing for The Rundown with Robin Thede. Jordan is the mastermind behind the original comedic play; Hidden Fences that has sold out four times and was staged at The Bell House for New York Comedy Festival. In Hidden Fences Jordan plays an exaggerated version of the Denzel Washington role, 'Troy'.

The Tank is a non-profit arts presenter serving emerging artists engaged in the pursuit of new ideas and forms of expression. We serve over 2,000 artists every year in over 800 performances, and work across all disciplines, including theater, comedy, dance, film, music, public affairs, and storytelling. Our goal is to foster an environment of inclusiveness and remove the burden of cost from the creation of new work for artists launching their careers and experimenting within their art form.

The heart of our services is providing free performance space in our 98 seat proscenium and 56 seat blackbox that we operate in Manhattan, and we also offer a suite of other services such as free rehearsal space, promotional support, artist fees, and much more. We keep ticket prices affordable and view our work as democratic, opening up both the creation and attendance of the arts to all.
