Horse Trade Theatre Group to Present LOVE, MARRIAGE, & CAT-SCANS

Every marriage is a story all it's own. But there are some things that each marriage will face, like health issues. This one-hour show by renowned storytellers and married couple, Brad Lawrence and Cyndi Freeman, take on the stress and challenges that come with the In Sickness and In Health part of the vows. Through moments where Cyndi can't get off the couch and Brad can't get off the ground, each must come to terms with the frailties of thier own bodies and also with those of their partner's as they face unknown illnesses, misdiagnosis, snarky medical professionals, and an endless number of worst case scenarios. In the end, they must come to terms with what it means to commit to love in the face of the kind of uncertainties we spend our lives trying to pretend aren't there.

Cyndi Freeman is a two-time FringeNYC award winning solo performer. Her solo shows have also been presented in Boston, Amsterdam, Ireland, the UK and the Edinburgh Festival Fringe Festival. Her newest solo show, I Was a Sixth Grade Bigfoot, debuted in 2015 at the FRIGID Festival in NYC and was also performed at the Edmonton Fringe Festival. As a storyteller her credits include: The Moth, The Liar Show, Adam Wade's Super Stories, Seth Lind's Told, Risk, and Story Collider. Other credits include The Colbert Report on Comedy Central, Campus Comedy on HBO, and Compromising Situations on Showtime. She also performs burlesque in NYC as Cherry Pitz. Ms. Freeman is a recipient of a grand prize playwriting fellowship award from the Massachusetts Cultural Council and two artist-in-residence awards through the Brooklyn Arts Council allowing teach storytelling Senior Citizens. In addition, she teaches storytelling with both The Moth and The Story Studio.

Brad Lawrence was the first storyteller to win back-to back Moth GrandSLAMS and is regularly feature on the Moth MainSTAGE. His writing was most recently featured in McSweeney's. He is both a member and featured storyteller with the BTK Band and a regular at such shows as The Liar Show, Adam Wade's Super Stories, The Risk Podcast and How I Learned and is the author of the critically acclaimed solo show The Gospel of Sherilyn Fenn. He performs burlesque as Handsome Brad and is the regular co-host of Hotsy Totsy Burlesque at The Slipper Room. He has co-produced and performed in storytelling and variety shows at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, South By Southwest Interactive, and in conjunction with WBUR, USA Network, and Grant's Whiskey.
