Galli's SNOW WHITE Returns For The Holidays
By: Gabrielle Sierra
Galli's Fairytale Theater will entertain young audiences with the beloved fairy tale of Snow White this December. The play, for kids from 3 and up, starts at 3 p.m. in Galli's Theater at 38 W. 38 Street, Manhattan. The show is followed by a one-hour after-show workshop for kids.
Galli's Snow White encourages kids to beware of strangers. In this twist on the familiar story, a man named Mr. 7-Dwarf rescues Snow White not once, but three times. Meanwhile, a king places an ad in the newspaper looking for a beautiful wife. In the one hour after-show workshop kids are encouraged to act out their favorite fairy tale characters and dress up in costumes. The workshop is followed by a mini-performance for the adults. "Galli's Fairytale Theater is a perfect place to bring your children and make them feel comfortable about the stage, the experience of theater, and maybe even the art of being in it," said Carol Cain, Managing Editor of NY Metropolista. Playwright, clown, and director Johannes Galli has been bringing fairy tales to kids for almost 25 years. Believing that fairy tales are healing for children, he uses the original story but changes the "grim" version into a humorous play that entertains kids and adults alike and has a fun and educating message in the end. "Fairy tales go beyond religious, cultural, and literary developments and are still relevant in today's society," said Johannes Galli. "At Galli Theater it's our mission to help children and adults to reconnect to the ancient wisdom of these tales and myths."Show times: December 4, 5, 11, 12, 18, and 19 at 3 p.m.
Admission: Adults $20; Kids (2-17 years) $15
After-show workshop: December 4, 5, 12, 18, and 19 at 4 p.m.
