R/evolution, a new futuristic musical with dance and multimedia, begins previews May 28 at the Robert Moss Theater. It features book by William Moulton and M. M. De Voe and music and lyrics by Moulton. It is directed by Richard St George. Opening night is slated for Sunday, May 31.
R/evolution is set 150 years in the future, when governments have been replaced by corporations. Mankind has learned that our hormonal nature causes humans to be self-destructive, but movement routines called Psychothrobics help us to control our hormones and emotions. When a clone of a woman from 2015 somehow remembers her emotional past, a pair of scientists begin daring experiments that threaten the corporate hierarchy. Can humanity survive if their lives and emotions are lived beyond the control of the corporation? R/evolution stars stars Mykel Vaughn, Debbie Williams, Alison Rose Munn James Parks, Eric Padilla, Jessi St George, and Zina De Voe in a cast of 14. The choreography is directed by William Moulton and created in collaboration with dancers Georgina Bates, Kevin Pinero, Colin Ranf, Megan Nordle, Ariel Tharpe, and Alex Betka. The production team includes Scott Dahl (scenic design), David Bengali (projection design), Amith Chandrashaker (lighting design), Ari Fulton (costume design), Emerson Daly (sound design) Jon Bremner (video engineer) and Georgina Bates (assistant director of choreographer).
