FringeNYC Featres PORTRAIT AND A DREAM, 8/15-27
By: Nicole Rosky
Nick's life is perfect. He loves his job, his girlfriend, their new apartment. But Nick makes a mistake. Then another, and another, until all that remains are shattered pieces. Tormented by regrets and clutching the tattered memories of an irretrievable past, he discovers that life is easy when you're happy, but when you're miserable... well, that's when things get interesting.
At once hilarious and heartbreaking, Portrait and a Dream rebounds across time and memory, coalescing into a powerful and intensely personal depiction of love, loss and human tragedy. Penned by up-and-coming playwright Jacob Marx Rice and first presented at Columbia University, this play was hailed as "ridiculously charming... brimming with wit, pulsating energy and keen self-awareness" by the Columbia Spectator. Now, in a stunning new production by Cabbages and Kings Theater Company, Portrait and a Dream is coming to the illustrious First Floor Theater at La Mama E.T.C. for the New York International Fringe Festival.Friday 8/19 @ 4 PM
