DAMAGED CARE Gets Dont Tell Mama Debut, 11/21

Damaged Care, The Musical Comedy About Health Care in America will makes its debut at Don't Tell Mama on Saturday, November 21 at 7:30pm.

Damaged Care has been performed Off-Off Broadway and at many other venues across the country for the past 14 years. The show highlights issues of great concern to patients and health professionals, including erosion of the doctor-patient relationship, depersonalization of services, the inadequate emphasis on prevention, and the success of "superbugs."

The show's songs address key issues in health care. For example, "Doctors in Cyberspace" addresses the weakening of the doctor-patient relationship. "Health Care Business" addresses the transformation of medical care delivery from a servIce To a business. "Go Away, You're Sick" addresses inadequate access to health care.

The musical is written and performed by Greg LaGana, M.D., and Barry Levy, M.D., the piece features direction by Michael Schiralli and musical direction by Brad Ross.

Performances run Saturday, November 21 at 7:30pm; Sunday November 22 at 6:00 p.m.; Friday December 11 at 7:00p.m.; and Saturday December 12 at 3:30 p.m. For tickets call 212-757-3788 or visit donttellmamanyc.com.  Tickets are $15 cover with a $10 drink minimum (cash only).

A discussion about health care will follow each performance.

Dr. LaGana is an internal medicine and occupational medicine specialist who has directed hospital emergency services and urgent-care centers, and worked for three pharmaceutical corporations. He continues to teach medical students. Dr. Levy, a past president of the American Public Health Association, is an occupational and environmental health consultant and an adjunct professor of public health at Tufts University School of Medicine.
