Contemporary Scandinavian Reading Series together with Scandinavia House and the Nordic Consulate Generals of New York persent The Returning by Norwegian playwright Fredrik Brattberg. The show is translated by Henning Hegland.

The public is invited to meet the playwright who will be visiting from Norway.

When:
MONDAY, January 30th @ 8PM, pre-reception starts 7.30 PM

ABOUT THE RETURNING:
A mother and father grieve the unexpected loss of their only son. The support of the community and friends move the parents as they struggle to build a new life together. But one day there's a knock on the front door that changes everything. What ensues is an unpredictable and hilarious theatrical ride. Norwegian playwright Fredrik Brattberg’s “The Returning” is a dark comedy that exemplifies the best of what contemporary Scandinavian theater has to offer. You are not going to want to miss it!

ABOUT FREDRIK BRATTBERG:

Playwright and composer Fredrik Brattberg (b. 1978, Porsgrunn, Norway) made his debut in 2008 at Oslo’s Student Stage with the play It Knocks, Amadeus/Det Banker, Amadeus. He has participated in The Norwegian Playwrights Festival in Oslo twice with Visit at the Hansen Family Half Past Six/Besøk Hos Familien Hansen Halv Syv(2009), a play about prejudice in which a Norwegian family invites a Muslim to dinner, and again in 2011 with his dark comedy The Returning/Tilbakekomstene, for which he was rewarded the Gledesglasset prize by the Writers Guild of Norway (Dramatikerforbundet). In the summer of 2011, Brattberg participated in Festival of New European Playwrights in Copenhagen with The ReturningTilbakekomstene. His newest play Monsemann was recently performed a the prestigious Dramatikkens Hus theater in Oslo.
