CSC Presents Turturro, Cumming In MONDAY NIGHT OTHELLO

Classic Stage Company, under the leadership of Artistic Director Brian Kulick and Executive Director Jessica R. Jenen will present MONDAY NIGHT OTHELLO, an exciting theatrical experience in which acclaimed actors including Michael Cumpsty, John Turturro, Alan Cumming and Michael Potts will work through and explore a different act of Shakespeare's OTHELLO with an acclaimed director in front of an audience on four Monday evenings this winter at Classic Stage Company (136 East 13th Street). The directors are CSC Artistic Director Brian Kulick, former CSC Artistic Director Barry Edelstein and Michael Sexton.

Audiences will have the opportunity to become part of the creative process as they experience different Othellos and Iagos through varying interpretations and actor and directorial choices. On January 19 at 8 pm acclaimed actor and CSC veteran Michael Cumpsty reads Iago and teams with director Michael Sexton; On January 26 at 8 pm Michael Potts takes on Othello and Alan Cumming is Iago, working with Brian Kulick; on February 2 at 8 pm John Turturro plays Othello with Cumming as Iago, again directed by Kulick; and on February 9 at 8 pm former CSC Artistic Director Barry Edelstein will direct a cast to be announced.

MONDAY NIGHT OTHELLO is presented in association with the Stage Directors and Choreographers Foundation and The Shakespeare Society.

CSC's production of Anton Chekhov's UNCLE VANYA, starring Maggie Gyllenhaal, Denis O' Hare and Peter Sarsgaard, directed by Austin Pendleton, begins performances Saturday, January 17 at CSC at 136 East 13th Street.
