About the Playwright/Director: Born and raised in South Carolina, Alycya Miller came to New York via Princeton University, where she studied traditional Japanese theater and served as Musical Director for a popular R&B group. After years on Wall Street, Ms. Miller embarked on a global adventure that would ultimately lead to her rediscovering a lifelong passion for music and creative writing. This passion landed Ms. Miller in Asheville, NC where she formed a funk band and met music writer, Darlyne Cain. The band's high-energy, guest-filled shows spawned the idea of a funk variety show called "Live at Da Fonky Burlesk." Two final jaunts to New Orleans and then London would add cultural texture and comedic depth, respectively, to something that really started out as a trip to New Jersey.
