S.P. Monahan's new comedy AUNT JACK will have its New York premiere in June 2019 at Theater for the New City's Community Space, 155 First Avenue. The production will be presented by Unstoppable Theater in association with Less Than Rent Theatre and will be directed by John Lampe.

AUNT JACK is a madcap comedy that follows the family of Norman Sable-Church. After breaking up with his long-time boyfriend, Norman moves clear across the country, leaving his fathers, George and Jack, in a tizzy. Months later, with George, a prominent gay activist and historian, in failing health, Norman returns home to make things right and to introduce his parents to Andy, his new partner. Although happy for Norman at first, Jack and Phyllis (Norman's biological mother) are shocked and appalled to find that Andy is not who they wanted for their son. Tension breaks into an intergenerational confrontation about sexuality, identity, and monogamy.

The play was initially developed by Wide Eyed Productions and had concurrent world premieres in July 2018 at Empire Stage in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, directed by Michael Bush, as well as at the Chandler Center for the Arts in Randolph, Vermont, directed by Gene Heinrich. A private industry reading was presented at Pearl Studios on Monday, March 25, starring Charles Baran, Shauna Bloom, Maria del Mar Fernandez Gonzalez, S.P. Monahan, Everett Quinton, Christopher Reyes, and Morgan Sullivan. Casting for the New York premiere has not yet been announced.
